So, I wondered about creating a t-shirt for our website. Anyone interested? How do I get permission to use the website name? Just an idea. Input? :dunno_white:
Edit: Here's the address to get your goodies (so you don't have to wade through pages!) : http://www.cafepress.com/gstwin
Probably talk to Kerry. I believe he owns the rights to the name, but arent there already shirts out there?
Kerry is not the site owner, John is. John is the person that you might ask that question, he is very busy and currently rare, but visits offline from time to time. We'll have to be patient.
we need a logo
Logo competition with the spoils being a dozen shirts ? :thumb:
It would be nice to see this actually happen
My idea:
This printed on left breast
(http://www.gstwin.com/images/logos/gstwin_sm_gray.gif)
and the outline of your choice of an E or F on the back... or outlines of an E and an F facing each other or something
(I'll leave the actual image to someone who can do it in pshop or something)
Then print GStwin.com or a simple slogan underneath.
Everything in one color to keep prices down.
Ya forgot the "s" at the end MotF (EDIT - the homepage doesn't have an S does it hehe) ... i like your ideas though . The local Streefighterz have a silhouette (sp?) of one of them doing a high-chair wheelie and it always make me think that someone should make shirts for all the different bikes like that .
I'd definately take a couple .. hell , make 'em in smaller sizes and my 3yo will wear it - she LOVES motorcycles :kiss3:
Cool count me in! I think it is a great idea :thumb:
I'd buy one or two.....
I'd love to have one. I thought about doing this before but my life isn't really stable enough for me to organize it now. If we could whip up a design you'd just have to get a quoted price per shirt then let us know how it'll work out. When I thought about this a while ago I thought it would be nice to charge an extra buck or two and donate those proceeds to the site.
I really like the silhouette idea, something simple and not too colorful. A lot of the motorcycle shirts I see are colorful and really busy, and they mostly end up looking tacky.
Might want to check out that cafepress.com site... make up a logo and text, and they'll make it available on mugs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, totes, etc. pretty automatically. You don't make much off the sales, but they handle everything.
Let me know when they become available I'll buy a few.
Cafepress is very convenient, nice and easy to use, plus no one has to really be in charge of ordering and maintaining an inventory. But the last time I ordered a shirt from them I wasn't thrilled with the quality of the graphic. I don't know exactly how to describe it but it faded or let the t-shirt fuzzies through the graphic making it look a bit fade. Then again, they may have improved their process since I got that shirt a year or two ago. Just something to think about.
edit: Cafepress may be a good way to get things rolling though, as every GStwin t-shirt attempt in the past has fizzled
what the hell...ill wear one....just dont make the silouhette something stupid. like a gs doing a wheelie or anyhthing that it wouldnt normally do.
Well the handling is the great part of the GS , so maybe one Knee Down?
Id buy One :thumb:
I would be willing to buy a few only if proceeds help support this site.... plus as long as they are not squidly.... but I could always use another shirt to wrench in.
If anyone likes this idea, I can work out a bunch like it (different angles, etc) and folks can vote? also I can do higher res, b&w, etc...
Then we need one with a dual-headlight mod .
Oh , and one each with an f15 & f16 windsheild , one with a Buell flyscreen , one with a chopped tail ... :icon_mrgreen:
Oh yeah , we need one for Jim's Eightball :o (hell , actually i'd probably buy this one instead lol)
I like it, but keep it simple, all black/white.. none of this color accent ish... my $.02
the accents were fotoshop. I'm working on a better one now.
i think it is a great first draft. i to would prefer charcoal or black/white and maybe change the font on the GStwin.com and make it a bit smaller
(http://i12.tinypic.com/4qyzcba.gif)
this would be a pretty kickass image to use if there was a hi-res version:

The old design was fine but so is this. You wanna add in an F ??? Naaa ... cool, I understand.
Cool.
Srinath.
Yeah, I'd take one if it supported the site.
Wonder if we could incorporate monofthefield's "If this bike is on a trailer it's stolen" sticker? :)
like that design....down for supporting the site.

Tomorrow when I get back to my work computer, I'll see about making separate E and F ones. Of course--I'll need a super hi-res F model...Anyone?
I'd take a shirt, probably take a few it the F model was shown
I have some F pics, see my sig.... if you need bigger let me know as they are all resized from much bigger versions..
This is great E or F it doesnt matter to me just so that it supports the site and our community of riders. Great job Jazerr! The second pic is cool it is kind of like the best of both worlds. Right on!!
waiting on a hi-res foto from dgyver, but here's one of his
(http://www.gstwins.com/photogallery/albums/userpics/15096/racing.gif)
then there's this one:
Maybe with this on the front:
How do we make this happen? I'd love to support the site.
Any way you could mirror one of the images and have both bikes facing eachother with gstwins.com under em??? That would look sharp :thumb:
Would have to be two different pics. Cant see the other side in a pic. unless you wanted an upside down bike :D
You'd actually have to take the foto with both bikes there or the perspective would get all wierd.
I dont know anyone with a GS aroudn here.

Anyone got a race/prepped or F model and an E model??? I like black :thumb: :thumb:

.....
I will email it to you tonight. It is on a back up drive.
I'll take a few! I'll support this site it's helped do everything I've done to my bike. I would like to see some knee down action or the one at the top of this page. I have a friend who owns a T-shirt printing business. let me know when you guys come up with something final and I'll get a quot.
Has to be knee down , i really like the design of the idea so fair , i also recon there should be 2 bikes , a E and A F ., because some crazy people , like the power ranger Look ,
Dedo will be having a tshirt :thumb:
Can we put 'fairings are for pansies' on it????
Tell you guys what...
Email me hi-res images to jasons (at) ltools (dot) com, and possible front text, and I'll put some ideas together.
Also, someone needs to secure permission to use the name.

Nope. See GStwin.com (http://gstwin.com) and look at the name on the top of the forum page. I don't remember the reasoning, but the forum had to be listed under a different URL. I still consider it GStwin.com
Hmm what about a E facing the F
The Front End of A E ------> <-------------- The Front End of A F
Gstwin.com
In that cool white on black Style , It would go nicely over the Shoulders . and back ,
with just a Simple GStwin Badge on the front ,
Would look Mean !
I would buy one also....or two??
Those logos look awesome jazerr! I prefer the shots from the right side because then it's not as obvious that we only have one front brake rotor, but I love how those are looking. I'll try to upload a few of my shots and see if you have any interest in them.
I think the E shirt should have
"Ride Naked"
Somewhere on it :thumb:

I hear what you all are saying, but still, you can't do that unless someone has an actual photo set up like this. I can't photoshop them together becasue perspectives get all screwed up.
Hmm , Well ive never seen a F in the flesh ,. and my bikes not standerd . hmm it would be easyer for some1 take there stock looking gs to a dealer and ask for a pic :thumb:
Otherwise im stumped , I think it would look good to , then the E lovers And F lovers cant complain!

Hey, glad to see the idea's taking off. As a person that's had A LOT of t-shirts made, I can tell you that the picture will not be able to have much detail if you put both bikes on at the sam time. Each on would end up hand sized, and the screen-print would look blotchy. So, here are a couple of ideas. 1. Two different shirts, same design, different bikes. 2. One shirt with one bike, full size, on each side. That way you get both bikes on one shirt, and you don't lose any of the detail.
As for which bike is better, I split the difference. I have a quarter fairing and a chin fairing on my '99.
I'd rather not have a full picture on both back and front since that'll look cluttered, so I'd prefer to either have two shirt designs or to just agree on one.
yeah, I reckon to keep it simple to manage, organize etc maybe one design with one bike on it and if that goes well maybe another later on? I've thought about having the bikes above and below each other but that might be to busy, still might be worth knocking up a design to see I guess... I think often just something simple is best..... maybe something like this....
obviously better quality pic... maybe doing a wheelie? or leaning over as someone else suggested (jay_wolf? I think), the above would look better with the image jazerr posted earlier on I think....
I dunno :dunno_white: just some suggestions to add to the pot :thumb:
.
I agree with the simple . make 2 shirts on E one F ,*order more E coz were Better * , i do like the slogan *Always Ride Naked * or sum it , BUt yea , LOving this brainstorm :thumb:

I like this. Maybe put alternate "ride naked" around the circle, or just a slightly larger Ride Naked right side up in the hole at the bottom? Could also put other quotes on there. I have "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul" as my email sig. And a few racer buddies of mine alway said "keep the rubber side down" before going out to ride.

I 2nd that an move to start printing shirts right away.I have a company that will do them. These shirts may go good with the Asheville bike night thread. There's talk of a website, monthly meet n greet, and shirt saying what division we belong to.Check out that thread. Some interesting things could happen.
personally i would ditch the circle thing and just have the bike and gstwin.com not just for looks but it would also be cheaper to silk screen
I say lose the circle and make 2 shirts, one with the E and one with the F
I like this last one. I would like to see "Ride naked" curved over the top and "keep the rubber side down" curved on the bottom, GSTwin.com on the front
Hey that looks great, I agree with maybe dropping the circle too. Still it looks cool anyway. As for the ride naked thing, well my wife would put me back in the dog house for wearing that around, she still doesnt get it. hahaha. I am already in the dog house for buying the bike anyway

+1, the circle distracts from the bike a bit. I'd also rather not have some cheesy saying on the back, instead of being simple and elegant it becomes complicated and preachy. I'm especially opposed to the "two wheels move the soul" thing.
I agree , lose the circle , need a Sorta Gstwin Badge if u no what i mean , like a Brand Badge ,

I'll take one 8)
With "RIDE NAKED" over the left breast.
there should be two shirts... one with the naked bike with the GStwin.com logo like the one up there ^ and one similar only with a fairing for the "sissies" like me! :flipoff: :icon_lol:
I would buy a few!
although i have one of each, a E and F model i think the bikes history definitely is on the side of the e. i think the shirt as shown above is the best and i would get one right away when available.
So are these going to be made?
What about the K's. They are the best of them all. :icon_mrgreen:
-Anti 8)
+1 on the nakeds :thumb:
Ya mean nobody wants a sketch of a GS doing a wheelie with tire smoke, and flames coming out of the can, and a distorted monster driving it while reaching up for a really high gear shift lever?
(Yeah I would get a shirt whatever the design is.)
It would be easier to find each other at a meet. Oh but wait, it's not like to many other people ride them
I like what you guys have come up with :thumb:
This is the problem we always have... someone suggests it, we get all fired up, and it doesn't happen. Oramac hasn't posted on this thread for two weeks, or on GSTwins for 3 days. I'd love to take over and make a bunch but I'm not stable enough now, so unless he comes back it's gonna fall through.
I like the above graphic. Also, nobody has to make it.. like someone else suggested.. put it on cafepress... nobody pays initial costs or anything (I think?)... we just order em as we want em... thus, no centralized shipping issues for anyone or anything like that.
I want a John Brown Shirt  Print the damn thing and make it happen...end of rant
Where's my Bud Ice?
Diaz

as a newbie i would buy a few. GS is cool bike, i would be proud of havin it onn a tee shirt.
Yeah - sold mine but I'd still get some shirts :)
Do we need to get approval from John/someone else before putting a shirt out? As much as I want a shirt, I don't want to piss off anyone who owns/maintains the board.
Looking (briefly) at Cafepress, it seems that there's no setup cost unless it's a premium account. Would be cool to kick a few bucks to the site for everything sold. Might also open the doors to shirts other than black as well as all the other swag they seem to have there (so spcterry can get his thong )
I know a few screenprinters. I'll look in to it next week. I would not be trying to make any money off of this. All profit would be given back to the site.
As long as we're still tossing ideas around. What do people think about long sleeve shirts? I have shirts from Whistler/Vail/Breck/etc that have writing on one arm. Like that design. So the bike on the back, logo on the chest, and "ride naked" or "i have uglyass fairings" on the arm :thumb:
I like this design but I would want permission from the person that made it before I used it.

The printing on the arm would be difficult and make the price higher. I say we stick to a design on the back and the logo on the chest. And limit it to only two or three colors shirts. I am not a fan of long sleeve shirts, but if there was enough interest that could be an option.

Works for me :) I'm not a fan of black shirts, but am down with most anything else. Grey with black would be nice, as would blue/green/whatever with white.
Nice long sleeve shirts are hard to find and tend to be expensive. Probably too much for this project.

I actually kind of like the circle but I think I'm in the minority so no big deal. Only other comment is that the big GStwin
s.com seems too bright next to the bike. It would rock if it was more like the writing in the circle .. from a color perspective.
It should also be GStwin.com, not GStwins..

I love these, and I would love to have one. The pics for the F look nice too, although I'd prefer they say gstwins instead of GS500F. Thanks for assembling these, I'd definitely buy one of these on a shirt.
I'm gonna bump this again, like I said, we've always got great ideas and nice designs and then the original poster disappears and the thing fails. I am waiting to hear back from John to make sure he is ok with everything. Then I will post a thread so I can get an idea of how many we will be ordering. The more we order the price will be cheaper. I haven't forgotten about this. And we will make it happen!

I like the way you're going. I made one little change to the text, just a thought that popped up. I'm not necessarily suggesting that font, size, or position. However, I would try to keep the text to a minimum. GStwin.com is all that's necessary, I think.

I just don't interject useless comments into thread for the sake of commenting. I comment if there is something to say. Oh, and as for the days I didn't log on, I was camping with my wife and kid. If we can get a yea or nay on the permission for the site name, i'll get on it using the design above. However, if someone has a better idea (cafepress), I'd be glad to step aside. I don't have any experience with that site.
QuoteOh, and as for the days I didn't log on, I was camping with my wife and kid. Our tent doesn't have internet access.
Well maybe it's time you updated your tent then. The first time I took my boys camping, my eldest boy wanted to know if there was a TV or playstation there.
If these shirts go ahead, will they be available to us OS members?
Good question...I guess there would be a shipping charge. I don't know how it works with cafepress though if that was the way we went.

I didn't mean to offend, but since you hadn't been around for a while I assumed that the thing that always happens happened again. I bumped it a couple time to keep the interest up and make sure the idea didn't just die like the others. I appreciate the effort you've put in, and I know I'm not the only person who will be grateful if you are the one to finally pull it together. If you still haven't gotten a response, I'd suggest asking Pandy and Pablo (pantablo), if they don't have an answer I'd say you should go ahead and do it.
Thanks again.

this one captures the essence of the bike IMO.
John, the site owner, will probably not come in here. He's not been around for a very long time. I suggest someone search the archives for other threads about making tshirts to find an approval there. I know he approved it when I designed a shirt, but that thread was several forum generations ago and wont be around. That was easily 5 years ago or so.
If and when, I'll take a half dozen. (Of course 3 will be toddler sizes)
I really like the black charcoal looking designs. Good work.
Could you seperate the E and F please, facing each other or whatever so the bikes have clean lines around them ?
Either way, I'll take em :)
Ok, so cafepress.com looks easy enough to design a t-shirt. However, I don't have photoshop in order to make the background transparent. So, it creates a big black box around the logo. As far as the logo I used, it is the one I quoted above. I like it because I have an E, so there. :) Using cafepress.com means you F people can design your own shirts! :flipoff: :icon_lol:
I can go to a local screen printer, but for the amount of shirts we're lookin to order, it would be about twelve+ dollars per shirt plus shipping. Also, I'd have to order extra shirts for future orders, I'd have to collect the money in advance, and I'd have to charge more to cover all my costs and shipping. It looks like cafe press is the easiest choice.
Anyone willing to get the pics altered to work on a black background? If not, I'll design the shirts as described above, and we'll just have a black background to deal with. As far as permission...as long as we're not profiting from the shirt, I think John would appreciate the free publicity his board members are generating, and if not I'll answer to it.
So what now?
How is the quality of the shirts from cafepress?
I am a member of another forum that does shirts every so often. Money is collected up front, items are shipped. If you miss the deadline for orders you just miss out. But it is up to you what you want to do. How does this cafe press thing work? Someone uploads the designs and we go to the site and order?
Yup...that appears to be the gist of it.
unless gstwin.com is copyrighted you can use it...i am unsure why the delay but i assume no one would have a problem. although it would be very good manners to wait for a reply
Maybe you can PM Zephler to ask him to edit the image? I've got photoshop but no skills so I can't really do it. Cafepress sounds good, at least for the first run, and I think it's pretty easy to upload an image so once we do that we can just sit back and order from the site.
whats the shirt gonna cost on cafepress? i looked in their moto section an it looks like most of their printed tees are around 15-20 plus shipping. i have shirts printed locally for around 10 all the time.

John does in fact own the site and the name is copyrighted. However, its fair to say that since he approved of the idea when I was putting it together that he'd have no problem, as long as its on a volunteer basis and not for profit. I'd say you're good to go.
cafepress shirts are good. the printing isnt the best and can fade. HOWEVER, the beauty of cafepress is that once someone does the artwork and uploads it, putting it on tshirts, mugs, mouse pads, everything under the sun, they're done. anyone who wants one simply orders one and cafepress makes them to order. no missed print runs or anything else. Set the price to cover cafepress cost only and there's no issue about profit. shirts would be around $14-$16 that way.

Can someone please make this on a transparent background?
1 with white lines
1 with black lines
Same with this one
(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i134/dlchris1/gstwin_sm_gray.gif)
Need 1 in white with transparent background and 1 Black with transparent background
Also on the GStwin.com can it be made 2" tall?

Well, whatever comes of this, this is my image, and I have it in SUPER HIGH RES, and it is still in PSD format so I can make whatever changes to it, no problem.
I made the image with the black background so I could post it here. If I'd posted it with the transparent background, you wouldnt see anything.
The way I figure it is we do TWO shirts. Not just one with TWO bikes.
My reason: Unless the Bikes are captured in the same photo, no amount of editing will make it look any good. It will always look "slightly off".
Now, in a few weeks, there's a ride in the SF Bay area (see the meet&greet). I will take TONS of fotos then, and see what I come up wth. However, I still think it should be two shirts. One for E and one for F.
In any case, so many people are chiming in, I think this should really happen. With cafepress, we can set up a price markup. If we add, say $2 or $3 to each shirt, we can send the profit to whomever pays for this site. I think that is EXTREMELY important. If it doesnt help pay for the site (even for a month), I dont want my image used, and I dont want a shirt. Otherwise I'll buy a few. I'd even buy a mug and boxers.
So, whoever is actually going to make this happen, if you want my image, I'm happy to make any changes necessary. Just PM me.
If nobody is ACTUALLY in charge on this, I'm happy to do it. I've done a ton of cafepress shirts in the past.
Reason I was asking for the transparent background was to order 1 of each online from cafepress then take photos of what it would actually look like on a shirt. Wanted to try one in black and one in white.
Jazerr, sounds like you have the experience and abilities to get the job done, as long as you don't mind taking it on. I think that image should be on the "E" shirt, then you could wait til you have more images to do an "F" shirt. Since I'm impatient, I'd say you should do the "E" shirt right away.
On the subject of markup/donations, AFAIK the site needs no donations. Ideally, you could talk to John, the Administrator for final word on this, but he doesn't get to stop in here to often. As a second option, you could check with the Mods to see if they think John needs any money for the site. But I think GStwin.com gets enough money from general donations and stickers to keep running, in which case there should be no markup
I was talking to a coworker just now and he reminded me that with cafepress, they have underpants. He thought it'd be funny to have "E" printed on the front of a thong, and "F" printed in bikini bottoms....naked and faired...had a good laugh.
PM me an email address and I'll send you the hi-res black and the hi-res-white.
Okay, so...since Pablo's like a god here and stuff, and he said its most likely okay as long as there's no profit...

Also - more colors would rock - if the image is transparent, it should work on any colors afaik.

You guys are my heroes. For years (well, one year) I've been waiting for this project to finally go through, and you guys have done it in style and by running it through Cafepress have saved us time and headaches. For the past week I've been struggling through a difficult move from Chicago to NYC, and the best thing to cheer me up is to see this done. Now I get the glorious decision of which ones to buy, know that I'll win whatever I decide. Thank you everyone who contributed!

Hey guys and girls - I'm a new GS owner and saw the T-shirts. I actually own a clothing manufacturing company so as my contribution I'd be more than happy to do some design work at no charge. I'll also hook-up the shirts/printing at my cost to the community. Everything we make is 100% combed cotton and we have dozens of styles, even underwear and thongs. We offer screen printing, custom labels, embellishing, etc. as well - usually even cheaper than the lowest quality Gildan shirts.
Whoever is in charge of this, just give me a call and we can set something up and do a short-run.

Hi I am new around here and just working out a deal on a 2000 gs500e. This thread caught my eye though because I am a graphic designer for a screen printing company. The company is too busy to print something like this but I am willing to volunteer my services to create print ready graphics for the shirt. I know exactly how the files need to be prepped yada yada yada it can save you all the artwork fees. just show me what you want and if you want me to try throwing something together just ask and I'll work my magic. I could even completely draw out a gs500 in adobe illustrator.
A couple of revamped designs:

Who are the 6 people who answered the poll who are embarrassed to own a GS twin? I love mine, and I don't care who doesn't like it. Besides, I get tons of positive feedback on my bike. Most people, bikers included, think it's cool as hell! The GS 500 is an object lesson in "less is more".
Put me down for a T-shirt too. Just let PM me and let me know who to pay when the time comes.
Humm are there any other kinds of shirts going to be made? I would much rather prefer a quality Polo style shirt (not white) that I could wear at any occasion?
Just a thought

I like the little e...less "boxy!" :icon_razz:
I guess you can say... I'm a... square! :D
I'd like one that just said GSTwin.com
So I guess there is no interest in Polo shirts. I guess I could always take the design to a shirt maker and have my own made? Does anyone have a problem with that?
are the GS500E's still available?

Okay, so...since Pablo's like a god here and stuff, and he said its most likely okay as long as there's no profit...
I've made the first run of shirts over at cafepress. There are only white/light colors right now. Dark colors and F models will come as soon as I can a) figure out the Dark color config on cafepress, and b)get GOOD pictures of an F model. If you have some hi-res ones of YOUR F, email me at fluglehorn @ gmail DOT com.
THe first run has the E model on the front, and on the back it reads:
Front:

Back:

I will be adding some that say "I ride Naked." If you've got other snarky bits, I'll add them as well. Just PM me.
So, here's the link:

Please, buy, post fotos...REPRESENT@!
this is brilliant. I love the slogan...only slow riders. that kicks arse. I agree, every time someone mentioned to John about donations he said the site didnt need it. I'm sure he wouldnt turn it away if any proceeds went to the donation link though. Either way, great job guys.
I checked the link to order one and the title says the slogan I want, but the images are as lilbill has on"We ride naked". Which is it and are the "Only slow riders" shirts actually available? I want one!
Ok, so is there a Black\Charcoal with the GStwin on the back and ride naked on the breast in white with out a big black box around it? That's what I'm wanting.

Whoever is in charge of this, just give me a call and we can set something up and do a short-run.

did anyone contact this guy?!?!?!?!?
So I keep trying to get an "F" version but each one shows up on cafepress's website as being no longer available. :dunno_black:
Are these all gone??
That dude has been out of gstwin since I dunno 2005 maybe.
Cool.
Buddha.
Tell me the shirts are not like they are pictured with the black box?

It would be nice to see this actually happen
My idea:
This printed on left breast
(http://www.gstwin.com/images/logos/gstwin_sm_gray.gif)
and the outline of your choice of an E or F on the back... or outlines of an E and an F facing each other or something
(I'll leave the actual image to someone who can do it in pshop or something)
Then print GStwin.com or a simple slogan underneath.
Everything in one color to keep prices down.

Why don't we have some options? I'd buy at least 3 myself,....
So, did anything ever become of this?
if not, lets get the creative juices going here and come up with something. advertising BOTH the bike and the site i still love the wireframe background of site when i log on. ( of the gs) have that all over shirt and site name on pocket area, and big name on back. or somehting like " naked twins are fun"
I was browsing for Tshirts and came across this :)
