YES according to the seller, she purchased it two months ago. Im thinking she got skeeered and decided against it.
I NEED OPINIONS EVERYONE!!! post up please. I NEED TO KNOW IF ITS A GOOOOD DEAL YO!!!
that's a bangin' deal. OC here, too. i paid $3750 for an '05 with 1600 miles 3 months ago. get it! you know you want it. cali's got the best weather for it. :thumb:
Seems like a steal to me!
SNATCH THAT GRIPPPP. O0
ok so far according to the few guys, it does seem like a good deal.
keep the posts comming!!!
thanks thanks yall..
Bought my 04 GS500F mint condition with 4000 miles for $2400. THAT was a steal!
That's in line according to THIS PAGE (http://www.vtxstar.com/GSpopcount.htm). If it is a California market, not a bad deal...especialy since there will be no 2008 GS model - or any other US GS ever again (if you can believe what we've been hearing).
Sounds like a good price to me, however a few things bring up red flags.
1) The price
2) The odometer says 00045 and the tripmeter reads 040. Not even a quarter tank of gas, and the tripmeter has been reset once. The owner had better have a good story! Make sure it isn't stolen, and that the frame and engine serial numbers match. ;)
If everything is OK, snatch it up!
^^^ dealer test ride :dunno_white:

???
ODO 45 abd trip 40 would be right inline :thumb: :dunno_white: I dont think its a red flag
Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with that at all! Why would that indicate a stolen bike?
Sounds like a good deal to me. I paid 3500 for an 05 black with 400 miles on it.
Looks great to me. Even the "may cause early death" warning sticker on the tank is still there. Looks like the nubs on the tires are mostly still there, which seems to agree with the ~40 miles on the odo.
I'm guessing the PO's wifey/gf didn't approve of it or something. Happens more often than you can say the word "like."
yes! good deal!
go buy it already before someone else does! lol...
The odometer isn't really all telling. Check the tires, chain, oil, and pegs. The silencer will also tell if it's been down, and generally how hard.
Clear title in hand, it's an ok deal. I'd hope the warrantee is transferable, since the later models had a problem with gaskets. Do a search to see what I mean.
Now then, if you're set on buying it:
1) pull the plastics off now. you're just going to drop it anyway.
2) make it an "E" and ebay those plastics that are in the garage.
3) buy GOOD gear to keep your skin intact.
4) you haven't even ridden it yet. do the msf, learn in parking lots, etc.
Yes, it's an OK deal on a 'new' bike, but since there is little difference between a 'new' bike and a 3-4 (or even 10) year old gs, it's still alot more than is needed.
If it hasn't been in a crash or badly dropped... BUY BUY BUY!!!

almost noooo scratch's, everything is indeeed very very new on this bike. Freaking bike hasn't even been on the freeway........well just yet.
It sounds like a very good deal.
I have an '07 GS500F too I just bought for $4,600 after dealer fees and tax here in Tennessee. It sounds like you have found yourself a great deal.
With only 45 miles on it, you need to keep 2 things in mind if you buy it:
1) New tires = DANGEROUS for the first 100 miles. Don't lean hard on them. Do lots of little zig-zags while riding along ( not on the freeway obviously )
2) New engine = Don't ride it hard at all. Until you reach 500 miles stay under 6000 RPM ( they say 5000 but 6000 won't really hurt it ). Until you reach 1000 miles don't go over 8500-9000 RPM.
Better snag it before someone else does if all above matches ( not dropped, serials match, call VIN into police dept to ensure it's not stolen [ if they have title you can forget this :P ] ).
Id say go for it, sounds like a really good deal, esp since your not going through the dealer and all the hidden costs. Good luck with it and have fun :thumb:
I paid $3800 (plus taxes and DMV fees) for my 04 in summer 2006.
I think it is a good deal.
I wish I was living in CA - lucky You!!
Cheers

EDIT: i forgot to mention that when I purchased my bike she had 800 miles on her :icon_twisted: so very fresh :)

I bought my 05 with 11K miles for 2000$ that was a steal too :)
thanks everyone for the input.
2. question..
I'm almost 6'1 inches tall, am I too tall for a GS500F??
am I going to be uncomfortable??
Im 6 ft 3. and i have clipons ,. and i can ride for hours , Mk1 Cali is 6ft 6 . and he loves his Gs , so im assumming his comfy but he uses MX style bars , which make you sit up more
You'll be fine dude :thumb:
I'm 5'11" and it's pretty damn comfortable. There's still plenty of room for me, so i'd imagine that you'd be fine too :)
I find that the problem is that on longer rides without stops (freeway, long distance) I get cramps in my legs and my left foot goes numb. Why left? I have absolutely no idea...

Also, if anyone else thinks that is a good deal let me know...THANKS.
How about I tell you to go to the bank withdraw the cash and take the bike home. I paid 4.000 for my 04 with 2k miles on the clock. and clip-ons are handle bars that are mounted directly to the fork tubes they give you a more agressive riding position but suck if your old and have a bad back. luckily im not old yet. check out my bike to see the clip-ons mounted under the triple tree.http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=35819.0

how many people do you need to tell you its a good deal before you close the deal?
yes!
I'm 6'4". The wife is 5'9". The bike is not too small. The bike is not too slow. It's not too expensive. It will last 10 years definetly, 15 easily, and 20 possibly. Yes, there are bags, screens, and replacement parts for it.
Oh, and frame sliders, too.
Just figured I'd answer the rest of your questions while I was at it.
Tires last between 5,000 and 15,000 miles, dpeneding on the tire and rider.
There. Now go buy it already. :)
okay..
were working on the deal....Everyone..im trying to get this bike now.
but another messy situation: SHE, yes SHE owes money towards it to SUZUKI financing...
yeah..f-ing great. She wont have a clear title and wont have one for about 2 weeks.. Plus I dont
know if she has the cash to payoff the reminder of the loan.
She wants me to pay her the money and then she could pay them. Of course im NOT doing that, since I could easily get F-ed over....
is their a way to pay suzuki directly? and then directly put the title to me so then I can register the damm thing??
BTW. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE TO EVERYONES FEEDBACK!! KEEEP IT COMMING!!
I suppose you could both walk into the dealership and see how that could be worked out.
Well, give suzuki a call. The loan on the bike has a number to call, they all do. If she used a suzuki credit card, her monthly statement will have a contact number. Given she doesn't have the cash to pay it off, and you have enough to, with HER supplement, it's up to the creditor how things work. I wouldn't be surprised if there is an early termination fee, and likely the seller hasn't thought of that either. Insurance will be an issue also. Her insurance will want proof of payoff before she'll be off the hook. YOUR insurance will want a VIN and not really care.
Now then.
Find out directly from the seller if she has the cash to complete the payoff, or if your cash will be needed to do so. Keep in mind, the bike is not yours until you have a title ;) . A bill of sale works for cops, but only for so long. Physically buying it, and waiting for the tax plates can be a very drawn out ordeal. If there are different states involved, it can take a really long time. We just spent a year and a half waiting for a title from where we USED to live to be transfered to the state we live in now. During this time we only had a TEMP tax plate, a bill of sale, and our insurance asked about it occasionally. Annoyances only.
Forget about all of that if you only need to pay off the remainder, which is the sale price. You go to the bank/creditor, hand them cash, and the tax office sends you a title in the mail. Pretty simple.
called suzuki.......
no options, she has to pay the balance and wait the 30 days for the pink......
thanks for all the posts guys....
Is there A FAQ for newbs for this bike somewhere??
yes there is FAQ. here is a link: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?board=7.0
enjoy

Yeah, not a big deal. I sold my car in that same situation. If you pay for it, she should give you a hand written receipt showing that you arfe the new owner. At that time she can give you the bike. On the receipt, it should state "an about" amount of time to recieve the title. You won't be able to get it registred, but at least you'll have the collateral. This way, if you think it is such a good deal, you'll be able to seal the deal.
yup same situation when i bought my bike here in socal. bought my '05 gsf from a cop that still owed the lienholder money. he needed time, even after i handed him all the cash, to pay off the remainder of the loan. make sure you print out a bill of sale from the dmv website and have the seller fill it out and sign it. the bill of sale is the only binding document that will prove your purchase and once the other party signs it, the bike is as good as yours until you get a cleared title.
now here's the thing about the title. policeman paid off the lienholder the very next day, but they WILL lag. american general took damn near 30 days to mail the pink to me. on top of that, for the title to be ALL yours, you'll need the lienholder's signature AND the previous owner's sig. so, after i got the title i still had to go back to see the seller to get his sig. after all that grueling wait, you can finally go to the dmv to pay your title transfer fee and get butt-raped by uncle sam. :thumb:

are you absolutely positive?? reason being, this is sale being one huge hassel.Such as, i dont want to be put at risk with anymore, or give her any amount of money that I may possibly never see back....such as WHO"s to say she will even pay the loan off?? Plus when she does if she does pay the loan off. She still doesnt have to transfer nothing over to me...She really doesnt...SINCE she's the person the title gets made to. Not me being the intended buyer. She doesnt have the money NOR the credit to pay off the *payoff* amount of the balance...and THUS needs my monies to complete the payoff.
so YEAH like I dont want to be ripped off...she owes on the bike. But without a clean and clear title this is turning out to be a huge headache..ughh!!
EVEN if i pay her the money, and SHE GIVES ME BIKE TO TRUCK out to my place. She can keep the cash, let suzuki repo the bike and I could be up the river with NO BIKE and ALL MY CASH long gone....
so yeah, i dont want to end up on judge judy or something.
WHAT TO DO?? WHAT DO TOO?? legally, and carefully without the headache or rise of possibly being ripped off. :(

my suggestion is to:
1) talk to the chick and see if she'll cooperate with you by placing a conference call to the lienholder.
2) find out exactly, down to the penny, how much the payoff amount is
3) you cut a cashier check for $3900 to the lienholder
4) have the chica cut the remaining balance (if there is any) in a cashier check to the lienholder
5) meet with her at a local payment location to hand in your cashier checks simultaneously
6) have her fill out and sign the bill of sale at that moment
7) provide your name and address to the lienholder so they can mail the pink slip directly to you
8) receive your pink in whatever time the lienholder agrees to (usually about 30 days, but they'll probably tell you 1-2 weeks)
9) bring the pink back to the seller for final signature
10) head out to dmv to take care of the rest
i think that's the path of least resistance and would minimize the amount of calling, driving, and meeting up with a bunch of odd folks to close a deal. i would've done it this way if i knew how it was going to go down. good luck, dude. hope you get the bike. it's a sweet bike for a killer deal.
Ahhh, a cashiers check to the lienholder. Good idea!

Already talked to suzuki DIRECLY LONG AGO.... no can do. I could get a cashiers check and go with her and all the stuff as you mentioned. BUT they will not add me to her account at all, nor will they cut the title to my name even if I plan on buying such bike. They only cut the title to the account holder and that IS her...NO MATTER what.
Like i said before, even IF i send my check in, or to a payment center. Who's to say after they give her the title she will transfer the bike over to me. NOBODY. She can absolutely change her mind and keep the bike and the money I gave her. Not good...(avoids any risk)
:(
so yeah...i basically would have to do a Personal loan to her and cross my fingers.
there's no need to add you to her account and the pink slip doesn't get "cut" to anyone. right now, the pink slip is held by the lienholder, not the missus. the pink slip will indicate the title owner's name (ms. afraid-to-ride-chica) as well as the lienholder's company name. once paid off, the pink slip NEEDS to go to someone. that someone could be you or it could be her. it doesn't matter. whether you get it in the mail or she gets it in her mail, she needs to sign the pink and hand it to you. it's useless to her.
why?
...because you have a signed bill of sale. you're safe, man. go buy it already, stop pondering and start riding. :thumb:
Used vehicle sales, like this occur, everyday. You just have to evaluate the seller. If they seem shady, cover all of your tracks. Most likely, if something were to happen, as long as you have a written receipt, it would hold up in any court.
Bought the bike, Now I Dont want it......If anyone in LA/OC wants this bike and deal. Let me know an tell your friends.
thanks everyone for the help. Clean Title in hand.
how come you're not keeping it?

actually got fixed under an authorized dealership, specifically at southland cycle(only work on suzuki's) in garden grove by the mechanic ed who had 25 years under his belt.
anyone who needs work done, i recommend him greatly. Good guy, and honest.
So, if you got it fixed, how come you're gettin' rid of it? You seemed so excited!
