Anyway, they put a lower fairing on the 650 S and added $400 to the price tag. Seems kinda pointless, but whatever. Here it is

seems as though everybody wanted the lower fairing anyway, so just make it color matched and throw the 400 down. I actually like it better anyway. I wonder if they changed anything from the previous model to this. I also noticed in the standard bikes, they still have the unfaired version available for a lot cheaper.

I wouldn't say it's pointless. A fully faired SV was almost a perfect fit for what I wanted in a bike. I wanted a fully faired sport bike, less aggressive than a full out super sport, and I preferred a V-Twin over an inline four.
Also, $400 seems fair for the fairing because they are over $500 if you were to add them on yourself.
I like the look of it too, thanks for posting it. I have been debating on my next bike between the DL650 and the SV650. I have learned that I am most interested in tourning then riding fast, maybe that is what happenes to some of us when we are about to turn forty. I have read that the SV 650 makes a great sport touring bike, so I am leaning that way. hahaa leaning get it? :icon_lol:
If you look at the specs and the features of the 2007/2008 the only thing that I noticed that was different was that the lower fairing added 13 lbs to the dry weight.
Overall I think it looks pretty good.

The SV looks much better fully faired.
I may be the only one, but I like it better with just the upper fairing. I like the look of the engine hanging out of the front of the frame like it's going to fall out. It looks cool. The fully faired one looks nice, and the $400 extra is a good price for the lower fairing, but I've always liked the fact that they were keeping it seperate from the fully faired sporties. It seems kinda like a cop out to put it on now after running it half faired for so long. I'm sure it's just to boost sales and appeal to the fully faired crowd, and it might add a little more aerodynamics to the equation. I'd still rather have mine naked or with a half fairing. That being said, I wouldn't turn one away if it was given to me but I wouldn't buy the SF model over an S or naked one. What can I say, I like more of a streetfighter look (without being gawdy or over the top like a lot of streetfighters are).

Same with me. I had been planning on buying one and adding a lower fairing so I'm glad they did the work for me. I do wish they had taken the opportunity to make a better looking exhaust and beef up the front suspension though.
I'm having trouble deciding if I want a naked or fully faired SV. Hmm... I guess I'll buy the first one that shows up and make it easy. :laugh:

Personally, I'd go with the naked SV. See my post earlier for expansion on this point if so desired. I like the air hitting me on the bike. If I wanted to be shielded from the elements (or in this case wind), I'd be driving a car. Actually, even in the truck I still roll with the windows down.
Yeah, I think I agree. I've never ridden a faired bike though, so I may not know what I'm missing. :laugh:
Sometimes on 750+ mile day rides I wish I had a windshield, but then again I think the wind helps to keep me awake and focused.
