Woah, I like that a lot. Your bike has gone through all kinds of interesting mods. I like it and can't wait to hear more about how  you did it. That tach with the LCD speedo in it is fantastic!

ok, i'm going to admit i just started scrolling through your pictures, until i saw the LED (gear indicators ?), the clip ons, and the  oh so clean setup you had earlier with the dash. that my friend, is a sweet sweet look.

then i scrolled a little passed the rear end stuff you were doing, body work, and thought WOW when I saw you were cutting the frame !

then my jaw dropped when i saw the SSSarm ! WOW MAN ! WOW !

love it, please do update us with information about your dash, that cool helmet styled headlight, and all the other goodies. love the bike, love your fabrication skills !

welcome to the more humble forum ! :)

It's nice to hear that you like my mods. I've started just about 7 months ago and it wasn't my plan to go as far as I'am, but  :cookoo: and here it is.

About the speedo...

I bought a digi for bikes (scaled to 199km/h) and try it on, but it didn't look nice soo i put digi speedo in pieces and lcd placed in rev and made new buttons on the left side of the bar for changing functions (trip, dist, temp, time, etc) of the speedo and connected it by wires.

About the headlight...

It's a paintball mask :icon_mrgreen: and lights from aprilia.

PS: Sorry for my weak english. I'am gonna keep posting how is it going.

Wow, that is amazing attention to detail. I like how you rerouted the buttons to the grip so they are usable. That paintball mask is so cool. That was a brilliant idea.

Workmanship is amazing, i mean i can do bodywork modification but going so far as to dragging the tach apart and cutting it and fitting the LCD inside! Then rerouting all the wires and stuff. Truely good and 'unique' job!

That's some impressive professional work there. Looks awesome.

How do you find the bike computer goes? I had one on my GN250 while i was waiting for a replacement speedo cable and found it was good till about 100 km/h but somewhere between that and 110 it would start reading low speeds, like maybe it was loosing the 100 even though it was rated to 199. Never had the bicycle that quick to know whether it's the computer or if it was something to do with the bike at speed generating some magnetic field that was interfering with the sensor/computer.

It could have been the magnetic field that screwed it up. You know when you look at the fast moving wheel and when it gets to a certain speed the spokes appear to shift between rotating one way then rotating the opposite way as the speed increases. Thats whats known as cyclic magnetic force, similar to what happenes in an altenator, the fast movment of the spokes in a single direction creates friction against the air which is also turbulant due to proximity to the hub, this creates static and thus a magnetic force, looking through that magnetic force is what gives you the "wheel turning backwards" look. It could be that the magnetic force turning opposite direction to the direction of travel is canceling out some of what the bike computer magnet reads on every rotation.

HA! Now THAT is cool. Haven't learned that in my mechanical engineering degree yet!

That's weird, I can see 'em. Trust me, your missing out!

This is some truly innovative work, I love what you did to your rear end.  And that tach/speedo combo is sweet.

Can't wait to see the sssa and that f/e!

I'm afraid I can't help you, I've got no idea what's wrong. When I bought mine I've had any probs. I've tested it and it was even more accurate than analog speedo. Space between magnetic screw and the sensor should be as small as it's possible and wheel size needs to be messured very precisely. Good luck mate.

Info about the muffler -

I fabricated some parts (stainlesss steel) and get some fiberglass over these drilled pipe.
Than I TIG welded them at work.
I modified original GS collector and put it all togehther and thats all :dunno_white:

That's what happens when they give cameras to Poles.  Confusing pictures.

Thanks for clarifying.  I thought that's what the drilled tubing was about.  Couldn't tell what the other stuff was.
I thought it might be Polish space shuttle parts (the one that can't reach orbit because can't hold enough coal).

Situation normal.  Resume previous activities.

Those are like the exhaust on my tank.  Still cool, but I'd like to have mine under the body.  My budget is running short, and I can't buy a slip-on.  I'm going to a K&N, and I want the exhaust for reliable re-jetting.
I'll just fab up my own, I guess.  Did you go with a flow-through design, or a chambered design?  Did you drill the pipe, and put in some sort of packing?  I'm already considered somewhat of a redneck, unfortunately, and I'm trying to limit the effect of a loud exhaust on my reputation.
Title: Re: Project from Poland
Post by: CZOKO on November 30, 2008, 03:11:36 AM
I designed A free flow silencer it's preety loud. This drilled pipe and fieberglass packing I use to get nicer sound (sraight pipe souds like a tractor exhaust) I've tried some solutions before I welded the silencer and this fits me just fine I'll  put some video with sound as soon as I get it back in one piece.

 There's no engine so the back looks a bit high, and there's no seat so how can you tell that it will be uncomfy  ;) be sure it's gonna be just fine

I've got some ideas but I'am curious what do you think about that?

can you take a picture from your offset and 1 picture direkt from behind? thanxxx

It was worth it. My dream bike is nearly finished and I'am goona ride it a bit.

That is some awesome work you've done there!  I visited Warsaw last year for work and the first motorcycle I saw was a GS500E...something so familiar so far from home  :)
What you've done is true customization - I wish I had the skill and imagination to do work at that level  :thumb:

Speaking of imagination:
Quote from: Kasumi on November 11, 2008, 04:34:23 PM
How long did it take you to make that up?  I can maybe see the turbulence creating a static charge (maybe) but you need current for a magnetic field...static implies an abundance of electrons in one place, not moving current.  I don't mean to just call  :bs: but if you have documentation for this I'm interested in learning more about where you got this information.

Sorry for derailing the thread  :icon_confused:

Umm, you guys are smoking something real good

The "wheel turning forward/backward" effect occurs due to stroboscopic effect. If you are riding under artificial lighting (typically 60Hz) or watching a movie (24-30Hz) wheels on cars and bikes will appear to be turning at a different speed than they are in reality. This is because you are not seeing a continuous signal, you are seeing "frames" that are updated every so often. Those sodium lights are actually turning on and off 60 times a second ;) This effect does NOT occur under natural light.

Holy Frankenbike Batman!  I thought it was awesome before you changed the rear wheel, swingarm, and Sebring exhaust!  When you're done, take it to some bike shows and drive the Harley worshipers crazy!  If the judges are anywhere near honest, your bike is a winner.  Imaginative as hell and great workmanship!   But no fork brace??  :dunno_white:

Nothing wrong with your English either... hell, it's better than many of the posters here whose first language is English!

HOLY f%$king shaZam! BALLS OF FIRE!!!!!!!
This is what i envisioned my dream bike to look like.  Everything about it.
I wonder how a stacked two beam setup would look with that flat/satin black color on the housing and careful wire routing. Im sure youll figure something out.

I know its been posted before, and I know I've even said it myself but DAMN, I can't imagine your balls lasting more than 10 minutes riding that thing.  I love the paint scheme, but the engine should match as well, sorta looks out of place flat black vs. gloss black.  Not a fan of the mask headlight or of the tail, looks like you ran out of time/money/parts and just threw it together to finish it up.

Good work, A+ for effort.

gregvhen:

You can try.... BUT... in firefox I get nothing from his first post. Not even red Xs. It's as if there are no images there at all.

In Chrome I get placeholders for pics but not pics. And when I try to open the image itself in a new window I get this....

"Sehr geehrter Besucher,

Which translates as...

"Dear visitor,

An error has occurred: The page you requested was not found.

Do you have mistyped or might call an old URL? If not, please
Please email the webmaster of this site. To return to the previous page,
Please just use the "Back" - button on your browser."

The images are hosted on a German GS500 website. THAT is the problem.

Ya moding the sssa may be easier (or not) but changing rear wheel from 130 to 180 is not easy if you like to do it fine, if I'd mod sssa without moding the frame, chain issue would kill me anyway and for me solutions such as:
- moving rear wheel right to find some place for chain (rear and front wheel are not in the same line)
- rear and front sprocket not in the same line
- very thin clearence between frame chain and tyre
all of theese i've seen in many modyfied bikes but they are unacceptable for me.

Sorry my friend, didnt mean to derail your writeup. back to the bike now Eh?, am a huge fan of what youve done thusfar. the gauge on tank, and everything else. about th eonly thing i didnt particularly like is the colourscheme. am a fan of gloss myself. ( shiny) matte/flat is slowly becoming a new favourite of mine, but its an acquired taste.

Why doesn't you sprocket hit the clutch actuator assembly?

 good question. Answer is... because I've remade it. I moved out clutch cap few mm and grind inside of the cap to get some xtra space. And finally shortened clutch actuator arm a lil bit and reweld it on the other side of the sprocket, it is now xtremally hard to assembly my system especially clutch cable, good for me that it is working perfectly from the first time and I dont need to reassemly it many times  :thumb: .

ps sorry for my english I've probably made some mistakes but I hope that you understand what I wrote.
