Title: Another rear shock question
Post by: codajastal on February 20, 2012, 10:52:15 PM
Sorry to ask this if done so before but wiki says I cannot use the sv650 shock with the white spring, only the yellow spring?
Why is this? It does not say why. I have the white one to install?

to do this mod. you'll need a few basic tools, a socket set/spanners a drill and a 10mm drill bit and a hack saw you'll also need the sv650 shock (you have to use the yellow type not the later model white coloured shock)"

Maybe the spring rate is different?
I've installed the white one without problems.
No drilling, no cutting.

Can you still use your centre stand and how does the side stand sit?
Cheers

Good point there. I completely forgotten about that.
After install, the centre stand was pretty much useless, cuz both wheels were on the ground, and the bike was easy to rock from side to side, so I got rid of it, and stick to sidestand permanently. Of course, I had to lenghten it for about 4-5 centimetres.

How did you lengthen the stand?

Cut (at the lower end of the stand) insert a piece of machined metal rod, weld, spraypaint. Ride.

Will have to see how bad it is before I cut? Cutting things scare me ;)
