Probably for that high up ass look and the GSXR tailpiece to fit. can't think of many other reasons to do so. isn't the GSXR tailpiece made of alloy though? so welding it to the GS frame won't be an option.

Post by: dowdy80 on August 12, 2014, 12:38:09 PM
i wouldnt be welding it, id have to bolt it on, i just fancy having her look abit more agressive and sporty in all honesty, dont get me wrong shes a gorgeous machine as is, i have a spare black 96 Gs frame that ill be doing the swap on, so if i decide i dont like it ill just scrap the idea.

Most sport bike tails while they can be made to fit and fit quite well on a GS - they look like garbage when you view it from behind or from above - or even from the front. The tail is wider than the tank ... and it looks stupid, if you ask me.

Most tail swap pics are from the side, and then it looks gorgeous. Of course a girl with oversized silicone titties looks great with clothes on. Naked she looks like a freak.

Cool.

yeah i get what you mean, but like i said, i wouldnt actually be touching the bike as she is, itll all be done on a seperate frame and subframe, if i enjoy the look then ill swap the engine and electrics over, if not, then i can just sell it :), its worth a try atleast, just as a little side project?

Damn you sure thats safe? id really hate to see what would happen if that tail shifted whilst you were going down the road. or is this just a very rough mock up to get an idea of what bracing, and such may be needed to get it to be 100% secure.

I always thought that the GSXR rear end looked funny on the GS, like it was too big. However, I think it looks good from behind and from the front/top. Not a huge fan of the side view, but it doesnt look bad at all from the front/top.
Regardless of what I think, thumbs up on the build so far!

okay guys i need your help, i got the battery and starter relay in, i turn over the bike and it fires up, but only sounds like its from one side, the other side will kick in every now and then, but if i introduce choke or throttle it backfires through the carbs and blows them off in the process, whats happening?

to be honest with you Clone, there isnt all too much difference, just with a hydraulic clutch, its easier to pull the lever in, not by a big standard but you can feel it, and you dont have to mess about with the clutch lead fraying or snapping on you or even having to lube it up, plus you get the cool little brake res on top ;) i bought the kit on ebay, cost me about £30 i think, but i had to wait like a month for it in the mail, silly chinese air mail :)

so i kinda started over on this one, ireally wasnt too happy with the end product, too much rusty rust and other delights, so ive yet again stripped the bike down, and so far

ive had the frame, subframe, swingarm and wheels powdercoated in a gloss black,

replaced the rusty old shock with a nice shiny new Hagon Shock,

replaced the Streetfighter digital clocks with a simple analogue clock (same style)

the tank and rear faring has been sent off for a satin black finish,

replaced the stock clip on top Yolk triple tree with  gs500f so i can have bars

ordered a Red Renthal Bar

all i need to do now really is reassemble the beauty

i shall upload some pictures of the process so far tomorrow when i get home from work :)

How did you make the hydraulic clutch work on the gs500?

the hydraulic clutch that i got is just a master cylinder and a slave cylinder, the master pumps pressure through the line to the slave and the slave retracts the pin, in the same way that a normal clutch cable would, but instead of it being a cable that can wear and snap, its just a smooth hydraulic line :) just swaps out with the existing cable.

i bought this one on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391212674376?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391212674376?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)

it was simple to install, i just fabricated a triangle bracket with 5 holes one in each corner to match the stock speedo mount and two for the clocks to bolt in then slapped a little carbon wrap on it haha, its analogue so no messing with magnets, and the wiring isnt plug and play, you have to swap a couple wires round so it'll work, all in all took me about an hour to get it mounted and wired up,  the lights on the clock are:

High Beam/ Blue light
Left indicator/ Green Light
Right indicator/ Green Light
Parking Light/ Red Light

there is no N light on the clock so i just wired the Parking light as N

hope i helped as much as i can :)

well damn theres some cool things going on, just a bit different, the hydraulic clutch is completely unjustified but cool none the less :thumb:

must say the srad tails are right up there with busas and late 90s gsxf for having the worst looking tails, its madly out of proportion on the sad, never mind the gs. not a good look but hey its different, you certainly put the work in and i respect both those points.

whats the current state of affairs with the gs at them moment anyway man?

Post by: dowdy80 on April 26, 2016, 02:16:15 PM
on my gs500 everything is now working as it should but 1 thing isn't, i have power from the battery, all lights and such work yet when i start the bike its as if my speedo isn't getting enough power and just flickers, yet when i stop the engine, the speedo reboots? im thinking its the alternator not putting out enough juice, any ideas?

well the GS is essentially done apart from some little cosmetics.

Suzuki GS500E 1996
Renthall Bars,
sinnis apache front end
Suzuki GSXR 750 SRAD tail
Hagon Shock
KOSO speedo
hydraulic clutch
GSXR 2002 CNC Rearsets
Dominator headlights with screen
Bobber Indicators
frame and swing arm powder coated

Looking good! I would like to know more about the front end swap. Did you have to machine anything to get it to fit the GS frame?

The front end was rather easy, a sinnis apache has the same stem bearings as a GS, the hard bit was to make it fit, you couldn't press the stem, its a solid lump of steel, so I measured the stem size difference and cut it out from the middle then used an arc welder to put it back together. Bolted straight up
