Ok, I know this is a Suzuki forum, and we all just got done drooling over the new zukis.  But since so many (including myself) have upgraded or will upgrade to a Yamaha sometime, I thought I would point out that the new sport Yam's are scheduled to go up at www.yamaha-motor.com TOMORROW!!!

My dealer keeps telling me that the new R6 will be styled after the R1, complete with the dual undertail exhaust.  It seems a stretch for a 600, but hey, if the FZ6 can do it, why not the R6?  The 'new' 600R has been up since July... of course its the same 600R its been since 1999

If the R6 makeover is as good as some say, I just may give yamaha a year to work out the bugs in the new design and then go shopping!!!

I don't think I'd consider one of the latest sport bikes as necessarily being an "upgrade".  Side-grade / different-grade maybe?

Except for maybe a few of the faired Euro bikes, I can't tell which is which without reading the names on the fairings. I think that's why the lettering is so big so you can tell what you're looking at.  "YAMAHA"

Yep.  The fender meets government requirements.

- BUT Triumph is pretty smart here.

They know that thing is coming off so the S3 comes with the holes already there to mount the lights and license plate up under the seat.

Sweet.

I'm totally digging the exposed rear wheel ala Hawk GT. The bike at the top of my drool list is the Honda 599. like a badass GS, probably with a better transmission.  I'm just wondering if it's that big a step up or would I want to go bigger? (in 2 or 3 yrs).

I love my GS (minus the stupid petcock and warm up time, and the gearchange) from a style and handling perspective, and couldn't imagine needing much more power (but give it a year or two).

I'm figuring within 2 or 3 I'll be skilled enough to handle an upgrade, and by then there should be a ton of used 599s out there with prices that make 'em ripe for the picking.

I agree on the Triumph front..

My current droolcycle....Speed Four...mmmm.

Although, those new CBR600rr's look even meaner this year somehow...

decisions...decisions... :)
The GS500 is the safest bike on the planet, it can just barely kill you.

well, Yamaha focused almost exclusively on the front end of the bike this time around with inverted forks and radially mounted brake callipers.  Bigger throttle bodies for better mid-range power too.  That's cool with me.. not that I would ever ride hard enough to need those features

On the downside... no dual undertail exhaust.  :(

On the upside... no single undertail exhaust.  :)

Following a CBR 600 is like staring at a dogs butt (sorry Pablo, but its the truth).  I guess Suzuki and Yamaha both get props for not bowing to the undertail exhaust craze (at least on the 600's) and focusing instead on more meaningful performance related upgrades.
