Why do people buy physically big bikes?

Some "big heavy bikes" just don't seem big or heavy. My favorite ride of all time was an Electraglide (not in blue). Very stable at speed and surprisingly easy to maneuver at low speed. Go to a Harley swap meet sometime and watch the slow races, in fact, compete against the 'Glides in the slow races...see how hard it is to ride those bikes slow. You can literally come to a stop, shift gears and get going again without puttin' your feet down. Especially if you use wide buck-horn style bars. Excellent, durable soulful machines. But I still love my Baby G and this forum too,

it's not the weight that attracts me personaly, it's the size.  the gs is a small bike, flat out.  i'm a rather large guy, toping out at around 6'4'' and 230 lbs.  i often wish i had a bigger bike just so i wouldn't feel so gigantic and awkward on the gs.  also, being that i'm a large guy, i'm not too worried about a heavier bike.  while i can understand that a lot of people ride the gs for it's small size and weight, and the advantages that come with that, by ratio of body weight and strength (lifting ability), i'm pretty sure i'd be on the same footing with a heavier bike that a lot of people are on with the gs.  not to mention the ability to two-up on a larger, heavier bike.  my girl likes to take rides with me, and it'd be a hell of a lot easier, and more fun, if i had a bigger bike underneath us.

I don't know if that's concidered heavy, but I only weigh 150 and I can move that thing around with ease.

Loud pipes on cruisers are obnoxious and annoying.  Not "bad ass".  They put motorcyclists in an even worse light with the general public.
