Are cables such as throttle, clutch, etc the same prices at local Suzuki dealers and online places like bikebandit, ronayers, etc after shipping and handling?

Nope Nope Nope... not even close...
Motion pro... most cables around 12-20 bux... dealers wanted $28 for my eli's throttle cable and shipping, while motion pro was $16 and they send to dealer with the rest of the order free (it comes via K&L or somehting) so if you found a honest dealer that sends out orders from K&L regularly you'd get it for $16.

Hey C... No way I am buying swaged... but he said cables... not lines... SS lines from galfer, and fittings from Earls and make it myself... but cables... I buy pre made from motion pro...

No, I mean the end fittings on the cables...two types, swaged and cast. Usually a ball type slug might be better if swaged and a cylindrical slug might be better if cast from zinc. Just wondered. Haven't looked at the cable ends on the GS to see what type they are. When I was an Auto Engineer I worked with cable manufacturing in a big way. Love to fly on the White Owl and love this forum.

Oh well... I guess you learn somehting new everyday... didn't know there were more than 1 kind... the fittings are cylindrical ... and the choke on my eli has the cylindrical fitting but its length wise on the cable... not width wise as all other cables I have seen.
OH BTW one guy that makes custom cables has a end fitting shell with a hole in 1 place, and inserts the cable in it ... after sorta fraying that end so its spreads a bit and that whole thing he dips it into his little melting pot whihc seemed to have lead in it... maybe it was zinc... and then when it cools its in there for good. And he said it was better than new...

That fraying of the end is called "bird-caging" and it allows the zinc to flow into and around the individual strands to prevent pull-off. When I was in the industry the usual pull-off load minimum was 100 pounds. You would be amazed at the life-cycle requirements for some types of cables...especially accelerator cables. I made a living for a while just designing machines to torture cables. Love the Baby G and the forum.
