I was looking at my mirrors on my 99', there chrome and all...
and I like chrome...
but they stick way to high up...
kinda look like bunny ears.
Have you guys used any after market mirrrors...
I saw some on BikeBandit
http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/product.asp?pf_id=2514246&dept_id=829136
but I am not sure they would fit

Has any one else have pics or opnions about aftermarket mirrors that they have used.

I had some Third Eye bar-end mirrors that worked as well as the stock ones and made the bike look lower and meaner.  Only a few bucks each.  Sold at most bicycle shops.

If you don't mind converting to bar-end mirrors, I figured out a way to get them to stop rotating around to the bottom of the bar at high speed.  Take the mirror's rubber plug that is supposed to go into the bar and clamp it in there off, dremel out the mounting bracket so your aftermarket bar-ends slip into it, and cinch the bar-end's bolt into the bar-ends rubber piece which is inside your bar.  Working on getting a pict right now...

that's so you can see what's behind rather than your shoulders...

Yes, when I bought my 96 GS it had bar-end mirrors that vibrated so much I couldn't see anything above 25 mph. I tried a few chrome cheapies from JC Whitney that gave me a great view of my shoulders, and then got a pair of stock GS mirrors from someone on this board. At least I can see *some* of the road behind now...

If you can see what you need to see, you're doing pretty good

if you ride faster than all other traffic, you don't need mirrors

I had the same ugly square mirrors and i switched to the round ones off a 99-02 naked sv 650... made a huge difference in the look of the bike and still provide great coverage/viewing
