What can we do for air filters on our bikes? Does K&N make one that improves performance at all? Or how about a whole air intake system all together. I'm not to familiar with motorcycle air induction but with cars most of the time you want to get rid of the stock air box as soon as possible. Or atleast get a better breathing filter for it. Thanks.

k/n makes a drop in replacement, and a skeeter catcher, you will have improved power with either one, and if I remember right the drop in is about $55, whare the oem is $35,  the k/n is washable and you will never have to replace it, for only $20 more!

I use it with the restrictor ring on my stock-jetted bike.  I understand that the same filter (minus the restrictor) can be part of a "Stage 1" kit along with slightly larger jets and the stock pipe.  But Ed_in_AZ didn't have much luck going that route, so  :dunno:.  I just bought it for its reusability, but it does seem to breathe a little better than the stock filter.

Just read your airfilter information and had a look at your K&N filter page.  Why does this particular filter incorporate a restrictor.  What is the purpose?

The Restrictor is to help you run it with stock jetting.
Outright performance gains are negligible with the restrictor, with out it, after a pipe and rejet you'll wake up the beast... yea yea it will be yawning and lazy but it will be awake...
The Skeeter catcher...aka Clamp on K&N pod in place of air box... is like giving the beast a double shot of espresso... Its awake growling and running about... Pipe (full or slip on dont matter) and rejet are mandatory.
