Wondering if you guyes can help me out. Here is what I noticed not too long ago:
while warming up, I need the choke for it to idle at about 2K, but when I actualy get on the bike and straighten the handle bars, it needs more choke b/c it starts to idle at about 1/2K. :dunno:
So I decided to do an experiment. I sat on it and straightened the bars. (RPMs went down), then I went to full lock left (RPMs went up). Straightened it out (RPMs Down again), Full lock left (RPMs up again)
By this point I think I need to adjust the choke cable  . Am I getting warm? :dunno:
If so how? :dunno:
Thank You in advance
Cheers

Try disconnecting the choke at the top of the carb, and see if it still happers.  More likely the throttle cable is catching on something.
You cannot escape our master plan!

I have the same problem with my bike... ALthough not so much of a problem because it only does it when the choke is on.
I think it is because of the cable and how it runs to the cable.
If you turn the handle bars all the way to the right it should get even worse than when straight.
I just deal with it because my choke is on for only a minute or so.

yeah, if it's just the choke, it's not really a huge deal, when you turn it to the side it could just be pulling it tighter, kinda like when you had a bicycle, and you keep twisting the handlebars around, until the brake cable is pulled tight, that it eventually tightens up the brakes, but i'd check your throttle cable too, there was one time when i had my bike all pulled apart, and threw it back together to make it to bike night before all my friends left for the highway, but when i was slowly riding through the parking lot, and once on the way out, out of no where, my bike just started revving real high, and there wasn't anything i could do to stop it, once i got home and got to pull it apart i noticed it was just the throttle cable pulling itself kinda weird, enough to jump the rpms with the clutch barely out, i don't know if it would've done anything if the throttle was out, but up on one wheel going 80mph wasn't the time i wanted to find out if my rpms would jump when the clutch was out, so yeah, just make sure it's not the throttle, it shouldn't really be a matter of how it's adjusted, as much as the way the cable is routed, if it's going up it means it's being pulled tight, so it must be catching on something

OK, I'll try the throtle cable. Thanks!
The whole thing is that Crack (My bike's name) is stock jetted, and she needs that choke on for a while. Oh well, I gues I'll play with it and see if I can get rid of the bug.
So is this an oficial GS quirk??
Thanks Guys.

I had the opposite problem when I put Genmar bar risers on my bike. At full right lock the  RPMS went up as the choke cable was now too short and getting pulled, opening the choke. I ended up having to reroute the choke cable to outside the forks.

Since your problem is at left lock, not right, and since the choke cable is on the left and the throttle is on the right I'd check your throttle cable to see if its caught on something. As I remember there is a weird little clamp down around the fork that the cables go through - check to see how much freeplay you have in the cable on either side of that clamp.

My GS is stock jetted too - takes forever to warm up, doesn't it?

Mhh, clip you say. Oh, I remember now. That clip you are refering to, it was one of my infemous spare parts after I put new fork oil seals in.
Well at least I know where it goes now.
Thanks
