Not your usual boot question: looking for Dr. Martens

I've been looking high and low for Dr. Martens 9733 style boots for my wife:

14 eye
black
zipper up one side

The only place I can seem to find them is in UK, which carries a $40-$50 shiping charge  :o + a giant kick in the nuts with TAX and duty I'm sure.  It's probably going to end up costing me $300 cdn for boot that should only cost about $200 at most.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone  knows of a place in N/A that carries them, preferably in Canada.  I doubt it, but you neve know.

I had good lick with Journeys online, and another place out of NYC when I got my 12 eye steelies.  I'll try and figure out who it was.

I had to go to the MALL to get my last pair (# 5?) of 1460's. I asked for them by number at this goofy I guess-what-they-want-to-sell-to-suburban-Philly-kids-who-want-to-look-punk store, and the clerk looked at my 37 year old ass like I was in the wrong place. I found the boots and explained what the numbers meant. By the time I bought them she knew more about Doc's than the store owner.

IMHO new Doc's leather is WAY thinner than it was 15 or 20 years ago. Nice if you want a pair of walking boots, but not so nice if you want abrasion protection. For comfort and geek factor they still rule though.

I don't know about them being not good for crashing.  I went down in mine and am happy to report that they held up great.  Nice, excellent quality boot.

You're right. I'd make some excuse about stop and go/heavy traffic but  i think it's probably just bad habit.
