Carb rebuild kits

Does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit for my carburetor?  I have a 91 that has a Stage 3 jet kit.  There's a small leak, and I'm guessing it's the float needle.  Or, better yet, does anyone here rebuild them?

Check out the Suzuki Carb Rebuild Kits page at PartsNMore.com.

Each kit is $12.00, but they have a $30 minimum order.  I ordered 2 carb rebuild kits, a front brake master cylinder rebuild kit, a pair of fork seals and a bungee net.  Shipping within the U.S. is FREE.

Kerry,

Thanks so much for providing that information.  I ordered the kits and a set of jumper cables for my $30.  Do you know about how long they take to deliver?  They didn't seem to have any express service, and I didn't see anything indicating how long it takes, or even if they will email me when it's shipped.  If it's going to be quick, I'll have my mech wait on putting everything back together, but if it'll be a while I'll have him put it back together without that stuff for now.

I could email them and ask, but I figure if you've dealt with them I could get a more objective opinion before I bug them.  (OK, sorry, I'm bugging you now.  Hope you're still at work.)

I honestly can't recall how long it took for the package to come.  My order consisted almost entirely of "I'd better get this now before I can't get it anymore" items ... not anything that I needed right away.  So I didn't pay close attention.

But I don't remember it taking an inordinate amount of time or anything.

Bottom Line: I don't know what to say about the mechanic ... your call, I guess.

Thanks again, Kerry.  I didn't give you a lot of inforomation, so FWIW, my deal is that I got a 98 used before summer and it had a problem idling, but once warm it sometimes also surged, though at the time it could be brought down by engaging the gears so the idling problem seemed more important.  The muffler was some loud D&H thing and I'm a quiet bike guy.  So I swapped it with an original and the local, independent mech, doing all the work pretty much, tried to do a "tune up" without taking the carbs apart.  Valves, idle adjust, plugs, whatever, but when he "fixed" the idle the surge became more obvious, and highway power was deficient according to feedback from the list I got when describing the bike's hw performance.  I wrote some posts and read some posts, and then based upon what I read here I had my mechanic take apart the carbs and he found they were  messed up in several ways.  I'm no expert so I may misstate something, but he did the Srinath prescription on the jets (the PO didn't rejet with the new exhaust, it turned out), and found that one float level was totally off so he adjusted that.  The surge was actually worse at that point, maybe because the bike's idle was adjusted. :dunno: Anyhow he then found that the jet needles were some replacements that weren't anything like the stock ones.  So we ordered a pair of stock needles, that are taking at least two weeks to come in (Argh!), and aren't real cheap BTW.  Meantime I saw your post about the carb rebuild kit, thought that seemed cheap enough, asked the mech and he said it's always a good idea to have the new gaskets, etc. on the carbs so I ordered them.  So really we were going to concentrate on the jet needles, and do the WD-40 test, but in the greater scheme it seemed like a good idea for him to do the carb rebuild kit when it's all apart anyhow.  That is, unless it will take a couple weeks for it to show up beyond what the needles take.  Even in Oklahoma, good riding days are getting scarcer.  :(

I think it's time for me to allow myself to be susceptible to multiple bike disorder.  Missing bike disorder seems to be worse.

Well, you didn't ask, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.  Hopefully I'll soon have good news to report, so I can be a better evangelist for the bike.  As always, any further insights are also appreciated.  What I've learned I've passed on to the mech, who is a younger fellow, and doesn't mind hearing or reading it when it comes to folks with a lot of bike-specific knowledge.

Thanks as always,
Mike Dougherty
