just wanted to say hi just picked up my first bike a gs500 from an auction its a 95 with 10,000 miles  in good shape cosmeticaly needs a few things was wondering what kind of help you can give me.

Needs new front brake caliper setup and pads because all over the rotor is what i think is hydrolic flluid.

Needs a speedo cable.

Needs Mirrors hoping there are some aftermarket ones?

Needs bar ends but thats it runs good havent brought it through the gears yet due to the front brake having the fluid on it :(

oh needs fork seals soon

welcome to the site. lots of good people/info/jokes here...

first thing is to get yourself a repair manual to help with the maintenance and repair of the bike. I assume you are somewhat mechanically inclined and will do some work yourself.

The fork seals are straightforward to replace but you'll want to do a search here for info on that since there's a trick to getting the lower bolt undone without the special suzuki tool ($$$). Once you've got it all taken apart you should replace the 10" long stock fork springs and replace them with progressive suspension ones. Its really a mandatory upgrade for safety... :o The stockers are super soft and bottom out on pretty much anything...

Dont know about the front caliper but a little investigation is in order (using the manual) to find out where the fluid is coming from. Just guessing I'd say you would need to rebuild them, but what do I know.. :dunno:

Check ebay for stock sv650 mirrors. they bolt right on and look FAR better than the stock gs ones. Also do a search on this site (or look on my site for much info on) bar end mirrors, since you're already missing the bar ends...bicycle barend mirrors work great.

read around the home page here (gstwin.com) and my page, link below for a ton of info.

enjoy.

But the super soft stock fork springs will make you have to be a smoother rider!...

'Bolt on' is just a phrase for "It's quick and doesn't require any modifications".

Welcome!
