I can't wait till Monday.   I just made a deal to purchase a like new condition 2002 bandit 1200s for $3750!  Just have to wait until the  banks open to get a cashiers check and have the title signed over and notorized.

It s silver and (IMO) looks amazing, even compared to the new honda and suzuki repli-racers, while providing the comfort of a crusier.

Now I just dont know what to do with my gs.  I might keep it for some around town fun or just a loner for my gf or friends to use when I feel like riding with them.

What would a 93 gs with 11K miles and every mod in good condition fetch in the current market?

check out www.maximum-suzuki.com
I ride with a bunch of the guys from that site, all bandit owners. They love the torque of the b12. You will too. Lots of good upgrades available. One word...Holeshot.

Yea, holeshot for sure.  Do I have to rejet for that? I am assuming so.  Also need the chin fairing and  suzuki gel set, hard bags,...sweet!

there's definitely some rejetting involved. the amazing thing is that a slip on installed on the b12's unleash about 9-10hp! :o  Worth every penny. Check out the max-suz site for more specific info on the rejetting and some float levels and such. once you get them dialled in its pretty hot.

btw-having ridden with these guys I can tell you that holeshot sounds better than the yoshi! :? not cheap though...

I think Corbin makes "beetle" bags for the Bandit.  They look as though they just grew there naturally.   Looks awesome.  I rode a 600 bandit before but was disappointed with low end performance.  The 1200 will give you plenty of that.

I should have two bikes on the road in the spring but not sure if I want to pay out the insurance.  $750 for each!  I can only ride one at a time for cripes sake!  For $750 I can buy alot of tools or accessories for one of the bikes.

Yea, my insurance for the gs is $60 per yr (liability only) and I think Im looking at between 350 and 650 for the bandit depending on if I want comprehensive coverage.  I dont think it would be worth selling my gs (mayube get 1000 to 1250) but I need a carb rebuild kit and will have to do a valve job in addition to changing the deteriated gaskets.

I think I will just get some type of wheel  lock and alarm to keep someone from stealing the bike.  I really only park at my school (Univ. of Oklahoma--GO SOONERS!) but have a feeling that I will take alot of road trips now that  I have the 1200.

I have been riding my gs for 5 yrs, and while not the best rider in the world, I fell that I am capable of riding my gs to its limits.

I will spend a few months taking it easy on the bandit, but do you guys think I will get into trouble with the added weight and HP/Torque?

It is too late now but I will take an advanced MC ,one for riders with 5 yrs experience that allow you to use your own scooter, course next summer.

I've taken the MSF beginner and advance courses...The beginner is :bs:  :bs:  [lol] I flew w/ fling colors, I could have tested out of that course and have gotten my licens if I had a bike at that particular time. Having taken the advance class I can say that is was USEFUL and would strongly urge anyone to take it as well. You really see the advantages that a GS500 has over "big guys' bikes. In a word I ran circles around others in the class. Weaving cones and braking is so much better. THe "chopper" dudes ran all the cones over    and stoped like a semi truck...

I can't say that you'll get in trouble w/ more HP...that depends on your "style" of riding

I do like the fact that the GS is nibble. In fact I love it!  So unless my brother buys it I will problably keep it as a momento.  Having said that.

The increase in power is definatly something needed for personal safety if riding on a highway.  You need to be able to get out of the way of those cagers.  Also the added 100 pounds my new Bandit helps with riding stability as far as wind and turbulent air flow produced by passing semi trucks.

Also, while I love the GS, the quaility of the bandit is a 500% improvment.  It has better parts and engineering.  I ride it with the same ability of the GS, only now I can surpass what can be done with the little twin. I mean, I pushed my gs to its limits so much so that it was unsafe for me to continue to ride.

I will always love the gs though and  think it is a very stylish and capable machine, with all the possible mods of course.

ALSO, no other Bike has a website that can compare to the quality of GStwin.com.  This site added to my enjoyment of motorcycling 10 fold and I hope it will continue to, no matter what I ride.
