I'm NOT done riding yet (I hope).
Last year we had til the end of October before this crap started.

Pantablo,
Not really... you can still ride in the rain and it drains away, snow and ice don't. And they make lean angles of greater than 2 degrees a dream.

Don't forget the pics - thanks in advance

We had snow all day saturday and depending on the location it was up to 6 inches deep I hear.  There were only a couple of inches on some roads near me, but man that was greasy stuff.  I was in my truck, in 4wd, and I had trouble getting started going up a slight incline.  Fortunately it melted off the roads and I was able to ride to school today, but it was just a little cold with temps around the freezing mark.

We just did a 'rain ride' yesterday. 17 of us going as fast as safely can in the Santa Cruz mountains. :)  Fun, fun...slipping on wet leaves, pine needles, or just plain slippin'. Came around a corner and there was a tree down across my lane. One of us had flares and went up the road to warn other drivers. Eventually, someone drove up with a chainsaw and we cleared the road of debris. That was a good deed day.

Pics to come soon on BayAreaRidersForum.com. I'll post the link.

Yeah it sucks. Right now my bike is parked infront of my house covered in snow  :(  Not only is riding season over but I've got to ride my bike to St. Albert to get it fixed as soon as the parts come in. It's gonna be a cold and scary ride lol.

Anybody ever ride with snow tires equipped with studs?

Yes, today it was rather nippy, it got down to 70 or so riding in to work.   It was so bad on Saturday (65F I believe) that I had to finally put the liner in my jacket.

Greetings from AZ!

Kerry

Gee, that sounds bad all right. (  :?  )

Actually, I have determined that 70F is just about the perfect riding temperature.

As winter approaches, I'll start putting my insulation on when it hits the lower-50s.  But by the end of winter I'll be riding around at luncthime without insulation (other than my regular jacket) when it gets up as high as 40F.

Isn't it funny what the body can adapt to?

Yeah it is funny... if the weather improved here, I wouldn't be putting my liner in until it got below 10C (50F)....  8) (Not kidding)

After replying to this post, I decided to post some pics of my lovely bike in its winter habitat.  I hope none of you get mad that I've let it get this way... I do plan on properly winter-storing it but I've still got to get it to my dealership hopefully tomorrow (when the parts arrive).  The quality of these pics are pretty low, but you may notice I only have one mirror and my front right signal light is almost entirely inside the fairing. That's about the only damage you can see in these pictures.
Let me add, I did just brush about a half foot of snow off of it last night.

Never done it, but a guy in the motorcycle club at my school is going to do it on his old honda CX500 this winter.  I guess he has a stud gun to do it himself, but I really don't know any of the details.  Should be interesting to see how he does this winter.
