Hello,

I never knew until recently that a forum like this existed and am very happy that there are other people out there that love the GS500.

I am having a problem setting up my carbs.  My bike is a 1992 with yoshimura full stainless exhaust, V&H ignition advancer, Dyno jetting.  The main jets are 122, the pilot is 37.5 (40's are on order), mixture screw turned out 3 times, and the clip position set to the second down from the top of the needle.  The bike's idle is horrible but the rest isn't so bad.  The RPM hangs up ever so slightly around 3000 but not for long.  It seemd to run rich with this setup so I removed the plastic spacer from underneath the needle e clip and put a thiner #4 washer instead. the bike seemed a little better at first, but the idle problem was still there.  Anybody have this setup??  any ideas about what to do??  I am considering reverting back to all Mikuni parts and doing the setup that is popular on here.  Please help!! :)

You have stock or UNI filter in airbox right...40's should make the idle issues disappear. Air screw set to 3 turns??? BTW that plastic spacer needs to be there... it will kill your midrange if its not there. Check for intake vacuum leaks... spray wd40 around intake at idle and see if it goes up. Floats set to top of bowl I presume... that is the right spot.
Cool.

Yep...got the K&N filter in the stock airbox, and the air screw set to 3 turns

where are the pilot jets located?

they are in that deep well next to the mains... look in there ...you'll see a tiny little slot for a slotted screw driver... get a thin one and get it in and seeif it wants to come... else left handed drill and no its not fun to drill into someone's carbs... but thank the man above I haven't messed up one in a few dozen attempts...
