Ok i have some ideas of my owne on this stuff but i just want to heare what the exbets have to say.

Why repack and exhaust.
How often does an exhaust need to be repacked.
If the exhaust needs repacked and you don't what will happen?
Is a baffel what the packing is called.

The packing is in there to quite down the exhaust. It absorbs the sound wave. As unburnt fuel leaves the engine along with the hot gases it will eventually burn away the packing material. Some exhausts use fiberglass, steelwool or a combination of both. The baffle is the perforated tube down the center of the exhaust can that hold the packing out of the flow. Repacking aftermarket exhaust is a more common occurance. Carbon fiber cans are more likely to get damaged if the packing gets burned out. I had over 10,000 miles on my CF Yosh from my TLR when I opened it up. The packing looked brand new. Never had a stock system apart to see what is inside of one. I do have one, but have not cut it open yet. I do have pics of a M4 and Yosh exhaust can taken apart.
