Well guess I'm not gonna sell the GS after all for a while.....
Ok, I've been more comfortable w/ my stunting.  Besides the on bike stunts that I do (skitching, supermans, invisible man, etc. etc etc.), I wanna start doing more movement tricks (wheelies and stoppies or whatnot.)  I need help on a few things:

What do I need to get the bike's front to lift easier??  I can't seem to get it to lift high if at all.. all I get is my rear tire slipping.  I'm getting new tires soon hopefully.. does anyone know if these tires would fit my stock wheels?

I'm looking for an exhaust, and a pod filter to start with..  anyone know where I can find a pod filter and does it need any mods to install??  exactly which filter do I need?  are there differences in the POD filters?

I want a new sprocket and chain to kick up my accel:  anyone know where I can find one online??  and about how much should I spend?

also, where can I get a stiffer clutch?  I need a clutch that bites harder..  anyone know where I can get one?

I already know about the katana shocks, prolly would get those sometime soon as well.  anyone know where I can get some stiffer fork springs?  would like those too....

I have all these parts that I want, but could only find them for 600's or bigger bikes.  I want to train my stunts on this bike, so at least if I drop it, I'm not diggin' deep in my pockets to fix.  any help would be great=)

Are you still on your stock 16-tooth front sprocket?  Consider going to a 15-tooth or 14-tooth unit.

The rear tire may fit, but just barely if it does.  The front tire will NOT fit, since it's for a 19-inch rim.  (Both of your rims are 17-inchers.)

See if my GS500 Chains & Sprockets listing helps any.

I'll leave this one for the experts, but I remember some of the racers talking about Barnett springs a long time ago.

By lifting the tail by an inch or more, won't this make it harder to lift the front?  Perhaps you're more interested in softening the landing after doing stoppies?

I'm gonna defer this one, too.

Pod filter can be found here: http://www.usdieselparts.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=53843

You'll need to get an exhaust and rejet for it to run right.

If you're still on your stock 16t front sprocket I can help there. I bought a 13t off eBay thinking I might use it one day.. but I'm never going to. Stupid impulse decisions.... $15 to your door if you want it. That would help a lot getting the front up, but it'll raise your RPMs a bit in each gear.

I think when I ordered my prog. springs MAW was cheapest, but check around. MAW gets you on shipping if you're not careful.

PM me if you want that sprocket.

I want the katana shocks, cuz someone told me they're stiffer.  Everytime I try to launch my bike, she squats on me, which dampens my front from going up.  It's great to keep it clean on the launch, but that's exactly what I don't want to do.  So Katana shocks, unless there's a way to stiffen my rear shocks w/ out replacing them.

Just got back from the MAW website.  Which ones did you get??  Which ones would fit my bike?

and wouldn't the 13T be a lil' extreme?  I was hoping to help top speed as well, because w/ my sprocket, I don't reach redline in 6th gear.  I figured if I lower my ratio, I would be able to reach a slightly higher top speed as well (sorry, gear ratio knowledge based on my RC racing spur/pinion rollouts.).  W/ a 13T, would I still be able to reach at least 115 in 6th?  (I only get about 115 in 6th right now, but w/ the bike holding at about 7 or 8000 RPM I think?  definitely not redline.)

I also noticed, that while turning at high speeds on the hiway (around 90 or so according to the speedo.), I start getting steering wobble.  It gets so bad if I keep going, that I have to slow down and let go of my lean.  I'm thinking it could be a tire thing, but not sure.  And would stiffer fork springs actually make this thing worse?
oh well.. let's try it out anyways.  PM sent

Eh. I have no clue how much a 13t would really shorten things. I know I was expecting more from my 15t. With the 15t I know I could hit 115mph for real, so 115 according to the speedo should be a snap. According to my little bycicle computer the stock speedo is pretty far off one you get over 70-80mph.

Springs from MAW... you'll just have to search for the part #. That's what I did and just ordered from the part #.

The front tire wobble sounds like either a poorly balanced wheel or maybe just tire pressure. Check your tire pressures and make sure they're right. A couple psi is noticable.

*edit* oh yeah. the only way you're going to get the GS's front end to pop up like a 600 is with radical gear changing. You can't get enough power out of the thing unless you start doing extensive engine mods. I'm not even sure a 13t would pull the front like you want, you'd probably want to step up a few teeth in back too. Seems like Mk1inCal (sorry if I botched that) did some pretty drastic gear changing... PM him maybe or search for the post.

Barnett springs are stiffer than stock. You can shim the stock springs with washers to get a similar effect. Barnett clutch plates are a little more aggressive. They are the same as the SV650, just the quantity is different.
Common sense in not very common.

Mk1inCali

Mk1inCali, for what it's worth...and I've actually stuck with the stock gearing, just a new chain after wearing out the shitty stock one.  Stock exhaust with 3 holes drilled in baffle, stock intake parts, just re-jetted a little richer to help, which it did.  I've got shorter tires than most, 150/60 I think, so my speedo is actually closer to real speed than most other people's are.

As for wheelies, if you really want to get it up without breaking stuff/stretching out expensive stuff, just go save up for a bigger bike.  There's just not enough torque from the 487cc's to really do it right.  Find a salvage YZF600R or an old CBR or something, they are cheap if they've been thrashed, you can still get parts for 'em and they are actually built with abuse in mind.

Stiffer springs up front will tend to raise the ride height up there, taking weight off of the front end.  Usually a little more prone to head-swap/shake like you are talking about unless you go with clip-ons or some other low bar to move your body weight forward to compensate.

dguyver, where did you get your barnett springs at??  I'm not really wanting to get serious w/ this bike, I just want to run on it while I still have it for a while.  I'm just a jail cook, and although I have no bills, I don't make all that much to get a bike out of nowhere, although if I prolly din't spend all this money on wierd stuff, I could save.. heheh.. but it's xmas, and I doubt I'd be able to save around this time.  Anyways, I plan on getting a Gix 750 this feb...  I just want something I'm able to play around with a lil' more, while I wait.  This bike is going to my cousin once I get my 750, so I want to put a smile on his face by making it at least a lil' bit able.  just a lil'
