hey guys,

I want to get some aftermarket turn signals for the FRONT of my F model. If anyone bought any for theirs, please post and let me know where you got it from, and how the install was. I would like to purchase some for the front to replace the stock ones. Thanks guys.

Stefan.

I got some K&S smoked signals from parts canada, any motorcycle parts counter can order them for you ...$20.

For installing them I made a mold to make some silicone gaskets, this will raise it up enough for it to sit flush with the body panels without having to cut the fairing. Because the fairings have a spot where it comes out so the stock ones face parallel with the bike and unless you want to cut your fairing, which i didnt, you need to raise it a bit off the surface.

If you dont mind cutting your fairing then you just screw them straight in from the backside.

So what i am doing is taking the stock plastic washer from the stock signals and flipping it to the inside, drill a couple holes through that for bolts, and a corresponding holes in the backplate of the signals and bolting them on.

You need to solder on some extra length of wire too, to reach your stock connectors.

There are these things called cat eyes ... they fit in the stock hole made in the fairing ... the hole is ~ the same size as the back side of that T/S... dont know how else to describe it ... OK lemme see if I find a link.
Cool.

Those lights on the link you gave me, the FLUSH MOUNT IV MARKER LIGHTS, which one of those would fit mine. There are different sizes. Would it require no modification of the fairing?i dont want to mess with that. Its not the wiring that scares me.

Airbrush,

I've bought the same style signals as you but haven't installed them yet.  I've got a 2004 GS500F also and was trying to figure out how to mount them.  Was going to try and Dremel out some of the back metal plate but figured that wasn't the best way.  How much would you charge to make a set of gaskets for me?   :dunno:

Thanks,
Roy

OK Run down to your nearest dealer and measure the opening of a Katana 600 pre 97 ... older body style. Then measure your bike ... I suppose they are the same. Then look up specs or check if the ones fit a katana. I have seen them fit a katana ... I can find that info for you prolly tommorow if you must have it.
Cool.

I emailed Lockhart Phillips and questioned them if the lights would be flush with the fairing of a 500F and if so whick size.  They sent me this in response:

Pretty much what these lights go is mount with a 10 or a 12 mm bolt that
goes through the fairing and has a nut that locks it down on the
opposite side. The bottom of the stalk is going to be really small and
it is not really going to have a base on it. It is pretty much going to
be a stalk to fairing mount.

Aside from run-on sentences and gramatical errors, can ANYONE tell me what the hell this reply is trying to say?

I bought a pair of dress-up lights for a semi-truck that fit perfectly... unfortunatley they're not very bright and you can't see a d#$m thing from the front but they look good in the fairing.... They completely fill the odd shaped recess in the fairing perfectly... I thing I might add some mirrors with signals just for safety sake before spring riding...

His reply is about those smaller but similar to stock turnsignals ... you are looking for flush mounts ... not the short stalk type ones.
Cool.

yup....thats the short stalk he is talking about...as far as flush mounts go...they usually already require a "flush" fairing and since the GS isnt like that i would say almost any signal you buy will require some kind of work to make it fit on the fairing.
