From your description, I am not sold that you are having carb problems.

It may appear that you have good spark. Double check all of the wiring for the spark plugs and to the ignitor. Some times the connectors in the wire harness get corroded have provide intermitant spark. Also, apply some electrical grease to all of the connections to prevent any further corrosion.
