Cool.  One of these years I hope to make it out there to see what you Easterners call "mountains".   :)

Quote from: jason_SI like that Temple Square photo also.  What is that place?  It looks cool at night.
That's the Salt Lake Temple.  To members of the LDS (Mormon) church it is roughly what the Vatican is to Catholics - although the temple is not nearly so big!  (I've hiked up to the dome in Rome, so I know....   )

The temple is constructed of solid granite cut from local quarries.  It took 40 years to build - back when the Mormon Pioneers had to haul the blocks out of the mountains in wagons, etc.  When the railroad finally came through the work went a lot faster.  The Mormon Tabernacle (made famous by the choir) is right behind the temple, but on this trip I skirted around Temple Square (an entire walled city block) rather than cutting through.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

Quote from: Cal PriceWow------I thought roads that long and that straight and that lonesome only existed in films
You may recall the stretches that truly met that description from my Around the Great Salt Lake trip.  In the 100-mile stretch between Map Points 5 and 6 the only signs of civilization I saw (besides the road and the Welcome to Utah sign) were in the two towns listed on the map: Montello with a population of about 20 and Park Valley with perhaps 80.  Lonely, all right!  :o

You guys got me curious about how that "Road to the Mountain" photo would look as a background on my desktop.  So I tried it.

I dunno - it doesn't really grab me.

hmmmm transparent, or take on less but is this likely?

Hey, Spitfire, did you know that if you take the wife to a Hotel in Brighton you have to pay "corkage"

For the benefit of our transatlantic cousins, Brighton could be described as a town that offers many opportunities. The Royal Pavillion and the lanes area are pituresque as is the surrounding downlands and Glyndbourne etc,.

Incidently a childhood freind of mine who is now a millionairre, yacht in Monte Carlo, mansion at near Glyndbourne and all that, had a disco in Brighton many years ago and was staring bankrutcy in the eyes when as a last desperate throw of the dice converted to a ghey disco-venue bar (At his wife's suggestion) I think he was first in the field and now owns a chain of them. Needless to say we have not been in touch for years and I'm not likely to bump into him in one of his bars.
