Send me to the Tard Farm

Damn the Tard Farm. Ever since its conception the postings here have become sterile. I used to love reading the verbal playground scuffles that went on here, now its endless posts on fork springs, carburetor jets, and fenders. For crying out loud, doesn't anybody use the 'Search' function. Those topics have been covered to death.

Just disagreeing with somebody else's point of view now solicits comments lik: 'oh no, I smell the Tard Farm'. It seems that a single complaining individual who 'finds offense' in a topic is all that it takes to ship it to the Farm.

Ever notice that the more obnoxious posts seem to get the greatest number of readings? I say let the sh*t fly and if some find offense, then they can choose to stop reading the post. We're all big boys and girls here.

You know what really scrambles my eggs? I can't even put the Farm to my own personal use. Silly me was thinking I could get in a few really obnoxious posts by putting them directly into the Farm, but nooooooo ... I have to offend the moderator first and let them transfer it there.

So, Mr. Moderator, transfer this, leave it here, or delete it. I don't care, I can always go back to licking naked Barbie dolls.
As my Uncle Bilbo used to say, "It's a dangerous thing taking your motorcycle out of the garage. If you don't keep your wits about you there's no telling where you'll be swept off to."

You're thinking of the OT forum, not this one.  And it seemed to peak at the election.  Things have actually returned to pre election hype levels and the farm is hardly necessary anymore.
There is more to this site than a message board.  Check out http://www.gstwin.com

everyone says this on every forum i have ever read.  sure some posts shouldnt ever be posted for this reason but seriously think about it for one second.  98% of the posts here have been covered previously.  maybe yesterday, maybe a week ago, maybe back in the beginning of the forum.  if people didnt post 'repeats' then this site would be pretty damn boring.  oooo 3 new posts this week! we're on a roll!  it wouldnt attract new people or keep current members interested.  how many of u guys out there like answering questions and giving suggestions even if they WERE covered already?  my guess is a lot.  it provides room for discussion.

and in response, i think this post was a valid one.  it had to do with motorcycles and this IS a forum about motorcycles.  sure it wasnt about the GS particuarly but hell, it IS in the odds and ends section isnt it??  tard farm should be for posts like BUSH vs KERRY..

Yup, there are still some obnoxious ones, and I started the one that Ed cited. I knew it might go somewhere but not to cutting off feet with rusty hatchets. Oh well I suppose I should have known better.

did you hit that nerve with a rusty hatchet?    ok now this thread has the words damn, ass, shaZam!, and bastard in it can it go to the farm now?
please daddy can we go to the farm?   hey that brings up another question,  why don't we have a female mod. how about a little equal oppouturinity.

Kerry

I don't think Cal's post hit anybody's "raw nerve".  It was motorcycle-related and of interest to the motorcycling community.  But from the 3rd post on the thread ceased having anything to do with motorcycles, let alone GS500s.  It turned into a conversation that could have happened between people who had never even SEEN a motorcycle.

So it was no longer a "mainstream" topic - so what?  No problem; I just put it in the "Odds n Ends" forum with other topics of peripheral interest.  Where's the harm in that?  :dunno:

yea, I agree with weasel. I don't mind seeing repeats, because it just reminds me how naive I was when I joined gstwin.com and how glad I was that someone helped me anyway.
