today my 95 GS died on me a few times, i barely managed to ride it home, thank god it was just before rush hour.
Syptoms where:
-bike died while riding.
-fuel was on RUN
-took a few tries to start up.
-would run with the choke wide open, but would sometimes die when i set it back
-would die when i twisted the throttle.
-would make a few occasional popping noises from the exhaust.
-set it on RESERVE and managed to ride it home.

Anyways, not sure what the problem is, but after i switched it to RESERVE it seemed to run fine. Although I checked and there was alot of gas left, or so i thought. Just wondering about how low of fuel can i go before i need to fuel up. I.E.- like dead empty or like 1/4 tank of fuel swooshing around.
My other bikes can go to almost empty before i needed to get fuel. Is the GS the same or is there something else wrong

Most likelly you just need gas - it looks like there is a lot of gas left when it is time for reserve.  On my 2001 I have about a gallon left when it wants reeserve - earlier bikes, as I understand it, have less.

yeah thats what I am thinking, also that i was on an uphill when i first noticed so I'm guessing that the low level fuel wasnt getting into the fuelcock.

Yep - what he said.  If you ever run all the way through your RES fuel, try switching to the PRI position and leaning the bike to the left for several seconds.  I have used that trick to get several more miles down the road (repeating the procedure every 2 or 3 miles as necessary.)

All models should have approx. 1 gallon of REServe fuel.  But the '01+ models have about 3/4 of a gallon more overall.

Yeah... I've been there.  (At least I think I have, I haven't allowed my fuel to get low enough to test the theory, and it hasn't happened since).   It looks like you have a lot more gas than you do when you hit the reserve tank.
