Told ya it was too easy.  How am I supposed to withhold the answer when you guess it so quick?  ;)

OK - I gotta go again.  The cupboard is "bare" so we're off to the store.

The thing reminds me of a honeybee hive. I love bees although I could probably never raise them, allergic to their sting...at least, used to be. But, yeh, I guess I can see the striking surface. Hey, Ed's beauty gets shipped tomorrow (envy envy). Love that rascal of a GS and this forum.

Quote from: cernunosI was stationed in Cuba with a friend who was stung in the armpit by a scorpion. When he whacked at it the thing fell down into his shirt and by the time he got it out he was stung again on the index finger. His whole arm swelled up like a balloon and we thought he was a goner. They transferred him to a base hospital and he recovered but said that the arm still felt tingly all the time. Scorpions are some evil little creatures. Yeh, don't like messin' with those water meter covers either. So, Kerry, where's yer pic? (you started this you know). Love that little GS and this forum.

Wowee this thread went 6 pages in 1 day and I didn't even see it ... Anyway ... In India We had a friend whose house was infested with them ... have you tried to kill one ... It is so damn tough ... it feels like a piece of leather you are hitting ... anyway we had to have them trapped with an indian style broom and clobber it with the base of a cricket bat ... you'd still end up in many cases with one that needed a few blows to die ... And people build immunity to the stings ... My friend and his family were all immune ... hurt like hell I presume ...
Cool.

why do scorpions live in watermeters??

Hell yes they're hard to kill...like a giant armor plated bug with a .22 for a tail. I was always afraid to sleep lying down so I got to where I would sleep in a squatting position...didn't help 'cuz I would wake up on my side or back and start swattin' at myself in case any of the buggers had crawled on me in the nite. I did almost sit on one and a friend noticed it...that sure would have been a pain in the ass  . When I turned around and looked at the bugger it had its claws stretched out like a fighter and I could just hear it thinkin'..."bring it on down here jar-head, I got sumpin' fer yer ass". Love the scooter and the forum. Bring on da pic Mat!!

Concerning this scorpion sidebar story: I've been stung a few times. Scorpions can control the amount of venom they inject, presumably to allow for the need of multiple strikes or mutliple threats. I've been stung and had it feel no worse than a thorn prick. The big baddy gave me his best shot since when I lifted the meter cover I accidently grabbed him underneath it. They like dark, damp areas, but will also come into nice dry homes in darkened rooms. I've killed three this week. One dropped on me from above, the little terrorist paid with his life. I find a quick stomp with a shoe suffices to kill them. But, very few chemicals will do. They can swim in ant & roach spray, but spray carburetor cleaner works REALLY well. Arizona is scorpion country, unfortunately.
