OK You put some thick liquid creamer in a cup of coffee and it billows up like that ... of course you have to be one incredible photographer to get it ... and I think you are likely to be Kerry ... that 1 inch was my hint ... making the thing fairly sizeable ...

The more I think about it, the more I think no one will get it without more hints or dealing with it directly. In fact, I think a good group of people might not know what it is even if they saw the original image.

Ok. Definitely a living thing. Not human nor comes from a human. One could consider it a pet of sorts and is more than likely grouped with other organisms (some like it, some not) in the same environment. I think I gave away too much with this hint.
