hey guys, i just bought a 1991 Gs500 about 2 months ago. I brought it home and seen the fork seals are bad, they're leaking a little oil. How would i be able to know if i need to add oil to the forks or not.. And can ya turn anything on the forks to make a difference. Should I go down much if ya sit on the bike and push down on the front end with the front brake on also?? Thanks jeff
Thanks for everyone's help.

You can measure the fork oil and top it off but it is not an easy job and not really a solution since more pressure is just going to make your leak worse. I would just bite the bullet and replace the seals..

Don't bother adding oil, it will just leak out. Replace the seals. Zip-tie socks around the fork legs to get yourself home; you don't want oil leakng down onto your brake pads.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.
