I've known about it for a while and I just recently got inspired to wire up a accessory outlet for my bike; with a few of my own touches of course :mrgreen:  Definately is a good resource

If I ever get this DVD wrapped up I'll probably retake some of the photos, and will definitely add some more stuff.  (Like a sources and prices list for TIRES!)

But for the time being work is keeping me hopping....  

Here's my take on the accessory outlet:
I first started off with a rough idea of what I was going to do from Kerry's instructions.  I found this plug end that I really liked and I knew I wanted to use; it's the same as the one's that come with a lot of trickle chargers to allow for different connections.  I actually found one that is wired to an accessory outlet at Wal-mart:

My next problem was finding the same kind of connector to wire to the battery.  The accessory outlet package showed it being plugged into a 4-wire trailer harness, but I wanted to find just a two wire version to match up exactly with my outlet.  After 4 stores (Radio Shack, Autozone, Wal-mart, and Ace Hardware) and no luck, I gave up and bought the vehicle side of a trailer wire kit.  I cut off the two wires I didn't need and attached a fuse and a couple of ring terminals to hook up to the battery.  With a couple of zip ties I ran my harness up to the front of the bike:

I envision plugging the accessory outlet in when I need it and routing it into my tankbag.  I may make a hole for it to run inside, we'll see.  I have a little bit of concern that the wires could be in the way of turning full lock right, but I'll reroute things around if I have problems.

The sad part is that today I had to go pick up another ring terminal, which I did at a different Ace.  I was curious, so I looked around and what do I find?  The two wire plug that I had been looking for all day yesterday.  I decide to go with what I have for now because 1. I already spent enough money on the project (probably only $10, but still...), 2. I only have one solder connection where I put the fuse in as, and 3. the trailer plug has a cover to keep it clean and dry while not in use.  Someday I may fix this and get the right plug, now that I know where to purchase it, but for now I'm happy.
