I have personal experience of "urban" foxes accepting food from the hand, without tearing it off!  but on balance I recon wild animals are best left wild. Then again if you have the 45 years to spare and the inclination........nice looking creatures though.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

How do you think we got dogs, cats, ferretts, mice...the list goes on :). They were all domesticated at some point, just have to start somewhere. At least this way its done in a controlled environment.

OK dogs in parts of the world have been mans companion through evolution ... as long as man was man, cats have been domesticated under 2500 years ... Horses, elephants, pigs, cows etc all predate cats ... Sorta they all evolved together and ended up being symbiotic ... Fox ... might be a relative og dog, and yes wolves are also dogs relatives and share quite a bit of the symbiosis with man ... so might be domesticable ... OK try it with a hyena ... should be fun ...

just about any living animal with resonable level of brain function can be domesticated. some of the lower level animals just get use to us.
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.

OK My bad ... I have to talk to my friends wife, I thought she said Hyena's cant be domesticated ... maybe she said Hyena's are closer to dogs than cats ... Like they have dog type legs and paws, not cat, inspite of their spots like Leopards ...
Cool.

I'm going out on a limb here...  But I believe that any SOCIAL animal (one that will sometimes group together in the wild) can be domesticated if imprinted to humans early in it's life.  Meaning if the animal "groups" or herds, flocks, mobs with its own kind and you get it VERY young, you can make it a pet.  Am I right here?

BTW, it's 75 here today and I just got back from a NICE long ride with the wife.  Ah, I hope spring is here for good this time...

The Buddha

OK I also didn't quite read or understand it ... domesticated is different from trained ... I have no idea ... domesticated is ... OK wont kill ya if you take your eyes off it ... trained is obeys few commands etc ...

   So ridiculous it's funny. That would totally suck to be attacked by a leashed baboon.

Coyotes and those "coydogs" should be shot on sight before they "get outta control" but ....about those foxes..........how much are hides going for in Maine for fox? I'll bet in the winter "up there" they have some nice coats and bring a premium price. Exellent.
But leave the "coydogs" and coyotes for the buzzards. Let'em rot where they drop after you waste'em.  All God's creatures are looking for a meal.
They have gun control in Cuba. They have universal health care in Cuba. So why do they want to come here? -Paul Harvey Quote
