I took the top part of my motor to check the valves. I used the right size feeler gauge and stuff. But it still wouldn't fit, do you no if this is normal or what.. Is there a such thing as them being to tight and what could this cause the bike to do??? Thanks Guys
Thanks for everyone's help.

Tight valves give you startup trouble, and it will start missing while warm up ... usually it will run great once hot ... unless its so far tight then it will not even get to warming up ...
BTW thinnest guage is 1.5 thou ... your valves are fine at 1 thou ... now you may be 0 or negative ... whihc is really what tight is. Turn the bucket by hand ... if it spins freely you aren't zero or negative. I set them all tight ... close to 1 thou or sometimes less than 1 thou ...
Cool.

Another member was having trouble with his idle racing up like mine does. He said his valves were too tight and after making the adjustment everything works okay now. I searched on the internet and I found a sight that suggested tight valves can cause a high idle. Hopefully I'll get mine adjusted in a couple weeks to see if it works.

is the bucket the shinny shinny thing that you put the feeler gauge under.. Ya my bike seems to be kinda hard to start, but i dunno I just bought it, it probally will be hard to start anyways in a cold buiding soo,, how do i make them a little loose?
Thanks for everyone's help.

Hmm.. I think you need to do a lot more reading and searching. There is a plethora of info on this site about how to check/adjust valves.

The shim is the circular metal piece that the cam lobe presses on to open the valve. The bucket is the surrounding metal around the shim that keeps it in place. It should have a small notch in it and you should be able to spin both the bucket and the shim if there is any clearance.

The feeler gauge needs to be used to check the clearance between the shim and the cam lobe when it is facing up, away from the shim (this is, not pressing down on the valve/shim). You'll have to manually turn the engine a little to check each valve to get each cam lobe pointing up. Check each valve one at a time, write down the clearance so you don't forget. They will probably all be different.

Order up Kerry's Video and see where the adjuster kit is at the moment.
