So, I've read about people switching to GSXR and Katana electronic tachs for accuracy or bordom or whatever. I'm looking for a new tach, and I'm not really picky. I'd take stock or electronic. My question is.. those who have them, did they fit the stock dash opening? Or did you replace the whole dash?

I don't mind modification, but if the tach is an inch smaller diameter.. I can't see what I would do about it...

With what im doing to my CBR I need to look into this as well (tach, speedo and oil pressure indicator among them). Since by putting F4i plastics on the stay is smaller and my F4 gauges are HUGE compared the F4i guages and simply dont fit. Im interested to see what type of options are out there.

If I remember when I get home....I will check to see how the tachs fit into the stock bucket. I have several different electronic tachs to compair. They are fairly close to the same size.

Cool, that'd help out. I've gotten measurements from 2 eBayers from a '97 Katana 600 and a late '80s GSXR-750 and both reported 3 1/8" across the faces. My GS gauges are right at 3 5/8"... I'm not sure if that's too much of a gap or not...

Hi trey,

I have a RevLight (by Datatool) electronic LED tach on my racer ($100 US). It has several modes, but I use it as a shift light. It's way cool, and you can probably mount it inside your helmet  the way Paul Tracey does 8)

It's easy to install and a pain to prgram, but it fits almost anywhere.
