A friend of mine got a nice new digital camera, so we went out and took pics of our respective vehicles. Heres my 85 Maxim 700. Bought it not running, got it up to this condition. Starts first time every time, even at 10 degrees  :)
Thats my buddies M3 in the background. He's always itching to be in any pics.

Not bad for 600 dollars spent if I do say so myself.
The thing is an absolute wheely machine.[/list]

Looks alot like my buddie's old '86 Yamaha700.  An air-cooled 700cc I-4 engine built into a bike with the rake and trail of a cruiser.  That thing was freaky-cool.  and it hauled.  all for about 1000 bux.

nice ride
2 C8H18 + 25 O2 = 16 CO2 + 18 H2O + :)
the bikeography is down for a bit
what IS a Hokie?

Make mine a Kawi ... water cooled 1000 cc ZX 10 motor ... 120 or so HP ... power to yank your arms out of their sockets, handling to turn your knees to mush when you encounter a slight curve ...  :x
Cool.

Probably the same bike, just one year ahead  :)  :)

I think this thing will be up for sale soon, as a VTer, a bike can't be fulltime transportation unfortunatly.

EDIT: Yeah it's neat like that, looks like a cruiser but its an inline 4 with 89 hp.

Now make that an 82 650 and you have my maxim, now  add Factory turbo From an 83 SECA TURBO to the engine and you have my future Maxim. i got the whole seca for nothing, and drove the maxim home with papers for 50$
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.
Ride Hard...or go home.

Its you Vs the pavement.....who wins today?

Yeah I thought of adding the turbo from the XS650 as well haha, but decided it would look sort of awkward on my XJ700.

Dude - his thread has nothing to do with that.
The head isn't the problem, the exhaust pipes and frame are, and I am working on it. 3 bikes gonna get done and sold ... the projects are gonna get done ... he smaller ones first.
That puts the GR/GS 4th ... GS, MZ and savage come ahead of it.
Heck maybe I'll do the GSXR too, then the GS/GR, the GR, then the XS rephase.
Cool.

TRUE my friend. really the only similarity is the 650. thought the exhaust outlet WAS in the head, unlike our beloved gs, they come out @ angles, versus the gs straight out. coming out at angles, points them RIGHT at the frame rails
