i've taken mine off from my '93 and it has a c-clip that clips into a notch on the shaft.  while you're there, you should think about dropping a tooth to a 15 tooth.  i did and it adds a bit of extra quickness to the bike

well then you will like what I bought.

15 tooth sprocket and a 45 tooth rear sprocket.

vs the stock 16 front and 39 rear im installing this today with lots of pics

The stock ratio is 2.4

15t up front, stock rear is 2.6

15t up front and 45t in rear is 3

14t up front and stock rear is 2.7

13t up front and stock rear is 3

If they sell a 13t for up front you won't have to buy a longer chain.  Get ready for a crazy wheelie machine.

Susuki_Jah

gonna have some fun :) . I just need to go to my parents house and get my link popper tool or whatever you call it. to get the old chain off.

the front sprocket was super easy i didnt even realize it had a clip untill splatt told me. i had a long day yesterday and was out of it so didnt cross my mind HOW easy it was to do. I went to pick up a car I bought and the dude had lied about it so I wasted 70$ in gas and a  6 hour trip to PA and 6 hours back. so i was still out of it .

but it takes like a minute to change. its a C clip usually you need a special C clip tool but you can use real small needle nose pliers to spread it.

i will post pics up in a few hours

ok , when i bought my chain from bike bandet they said the JT sprocket I go would still use the 110 link chain. I know someone on the board siad i would probly have to have a longer chain but I stayed with what the store said and ordered it. its about 2-3 links short I mean I could make it tight but then it wouldnt be right.  pisses me off.  :x

yes you guys still get pics :) .   well i cant return the chain so im putting my stock rear sprocket back on and still keeping the front 15 tooth one.
I will put the 45 tooth rear back on when i have an extra 88$.

i will tell you it is annoying taking off the stock chain, you have to take off the swing arm. not a big deal but still annoying.

you know i work on my motorcycle and my cars so much i think im gonna get a job as a mehcanic. seriously!

I will have pics up about 9pm eastern standard time

sorry about that , had lunch with the parents then got lazy and still left my key at there house!! here are some pics.

there is a considerable amount of weight difference between the stock or OEM parts vs the performance parts made out of the aluminium vs the stock steel parts. I cant wait to have extra money on the side again to purchase another chain :( > whatever after i get my car fixed I will buy a longer chain. then keep the OEM parts and chain as spare parts for long road trips just incase.

since I dropped one tooth in the front and gained 6 teeth in the rear then I would say I need a 114 chain with a master link.

the Job really takes no time. hope some of you guys have air tools, makes it alot faster. tomorrow I hope to ride it and tell you how she feels with the 15t in the front and stock in the rear then a few weeks down the road i will ride it with the 15t in front and 45t in the rear. I think after this mod im gonna get the buell lights for the front.

That's the same 15t I bought.  You'll notice the differene right away.  I've been looking for a 39t gold rear sprocket...there's something about gold...makes me feel RICH!   :thumb:

And if you were wondering, I'm planning on getting a gold chain to match.

Cool, I have a 43t rear on my bike.  Someday when I have the extra few dollars Im going down to a 15 in the front.  Just be sure and not let that cush drive fall out of that wheel when moving it around, thats a good way to bend sprockets, trust me.  Also keep an eye out on ebay, I got a new RK o-ring chain for $50 shipped, and it was 120 links so you can just cut it down to fit.

Susuki_Jah

awesome!

thanks for the advice. how does the 43t feel to you?

I think it pulls harder but I am biased toward that since I did so many additional things to help the bike run better.
