OK I dont like it ... Its gotta be shorter ... I marked where I might cut it, It also needs to be from aluminium ... not from my favorite metal ... Stainless ... I will make more tommorow ... The plate should only be long enough to fit 1/2 the license ... the rest has to be backed by acrylic  or lexan ... you crash and that metal plate will do all sorts of damage ... If anyone wants it ... I can make it ...No real minimum needed ... I got aluminium and maybe I should have a minimum limit ... acrylic has to be bought in large sheets ...Lemme look into that ...
Cool.

Axle ... in fact I have 2 axle holes I can make ... you can bolt it 75% above the axle or 75% below the axle ... and right or left side of bike ...  Shiny .. you make it shiny ... and if I just get 1 .. you get your own lexan/acrylic too
Cool.

Lets just say you can fit it so its lower edge is level with the lower edge of swingarm ... or so its upper edge is level with upper edge of swingarm ...
Acrylic or lexan is a glass like material ... its sold in sheets as window replacement ... lowes or HD ... and its pretty strong ... but in a crash it will break off and not end up in your rear wheel ... and even if it did ... its not going to damage the wheel ...
Cool.

Either use a thin wall angle section and cut it to size - the length is as tall as the licence plate is ... or use a aluminium sheet and bend it in a vice ... even with the damn 1/8th thick monstro stainless I been making stuff with these days ... this was like 10 mins wiht a vice and a sledge hammer ...
Cool.

I still want to see a pic w/ the whole rear of the bike w/ the side mounted plate. I don't know if it would look clean or silly on our GS's...

Sorry guys tommorow ... And Just IMHO It does and will definetly look stoopid ... lucky for you stefman its easy to make ... I also dont anticipate I'll make more than 1-2 ...  The real mod to licence plate bracket I will make on the GS ... Bend that bracket to a more horizontal angle ... like 45 - 60 degrres to the vertical ... sweet ... I dont like that side fit license on the damn customs ... they make a 30-40-50-60-150K bike and dont know where to fit the licence ... How about your sew it into the riders jacket and light it up with a tiny little LED fitted on the seat  ... I dunno ... anyhting is better tha the crap side fit ... you better buy it stefman ... else i'll presonally walk over there and beat the crap out of you with that silly ass licence plate holder ...  :x
Cool.

want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

The Buddha

OK ... that was carved out of a 6 inch by 6 inch by 9 inch block of aluminium ... No way I am expending that kind of energy even if the block was sitting in front of me, and so was a mill and all of it was paid for in full ... BTW i ahve the small piece of acrylic You need ... yea ate up most of my evening ... finding it and then taking it off the other plates that were on it ... man I am sweating from that effort ... Tommorow you'll have one ... any more ... OK better preorder and would need like 10 to make acrylic purchase worth it ... I can do it for like $10 though ...
Cool.

I think horizontal ... vertical will not fit under the exhaust ... Push comes to shove you can fit a vertical plate in a horizontal bracket ... cos the acrylic plate is what you bolt to ... so locate and drill into the acrylic plate, bolt it on the bracket and bolt it to the plate ... Pics ... yea ... You need it to visualise it ... I suck at putting 3 D pics into words ... You just fit the doo hickey on the left dealy bob and bolt it on the thingmajig ...
Cool.

you can get lexan/plexiglass at home depot... that junk is easy to cut up too...

I agree... that thing is ugly.  just in general.. it's for a chopper where you have NOWHERE else to mount a plate..
