I have Avon AM51/52...cost much less than bt45s and it's a great tire overall...just ordered another set...so i should be good for this season...
wileyco, K&N pod, rejet 22.5/65/147.5, F16 flyscreen, progressive springs, 15t front sprocket...more to come: katana shock

wraithR1

Michelin Pilot Powers 120/70 & 190/50

I'm not sure what's on the GS500....they're still in good shape.  I'm sure I'll be doing a search on this forum for tires in not too long.

hey are you guys running bt45's with the V or H rating?
Is V rating unecessary?

unneccesary. H is rated up to 130 mph? Gs won't hit it.

gsJack

110/80 AV45 frt and 140/80 AV46 rear on the 02 GS and 110/70 BT010 frt and 140/80 AV36 rear on the 97 GS.

VersOne

hey secondgen... I just ordered pirelli sport demons front and rear 110/70 front and 140/70 rear.

Cost me...everything out the door $180.  My friend will mount my tires for free (moto repair class)

I'll let you know how they feel.  Although it will be kind of hard to compare since I've had the gs for like 2 weeks, with an exedra on the back and old tire in the front that won't hold it's pressure.

I got one of those on the rear, with a BT-45 on the front.  Replaced a BT-35 about year and a half ago, I like the Michelin, I tend to be rough on tires and this one has held up better than the old Battleax did.

Had Michelin Pilot Sports on my GS since I took it home from the dealer, had them swap out the stock POS's after reading here how sucky they were.  Got 9.1K out of the first front, 4.5K out of each rear, now on my 2nd front and 3rd rear.

Sticky as all heck, but being replaced by the Pilot Powers, so after this set is trashed, I'll find something different with more mileage capability, probably.

Of course, the GS will be my little bro's by then, or back in my dad's hands and I'll be thrashing my YZ426 motard...

For the V of H rating.  I would go with the V Rating.  Even if you will never hit the speed rating there are other things that go into it that rating.  I have found in general that the higher the rating the better perfomance you can expect out of the tire aka cornering, braking, and responce.  That said they are usualy runn stiffer side walls so the ride might be a little harsher.

Nice deal!  I found a place I can order 'em for $158 (shipped) but I'll still have to pay $30-40 for mounting.  Should still be under 2 bills though.

Please do review 'em when they've been on for awhile.  I plan to do the same.

Which size rear did you go with?  I've heard the 140 can throw off the handling a bit so I'm leaning towards the 130 but if you have any input, I'd like to hear it.  That's my last decision before buying.

I went with stock sizes and they perform great,  I would just go with stock sizes.:)

Why go with larger? :dunno:
