How perfect does it have to be?

For those of you that stripped/ground/labored over getting the rust off your exhaust pipes:  How perfectly clean does it have to be?  There are some spots that I just can't get to!  It looks a lot better than it did when I started... but doh this is taking forever!

Yea I spend no more than 10-15 mins sanding it ... but doing it like every 1-2 years is the key.
