Well guys I will be laid up in bed for a few days. I'm off to get surgery on my shoulder on Thursday. A few months ago I messed up my shoulder lifting a patient, I'm an EMT. Ever since then it hasn't been the same. I have been going to therapy, but no results, so this Thursday I go under the knife. They are going to scrape away some of the bone and take out some of the crap in there. Hopefully all works out well and I regain my range of motion. If all fails, at least I'll enjoy the pain killers.   Sorry for this stupid post, but I'm a little nervous so I had to vent. I'll be on here up until I leave Thursday morning. If I can manage to make it to the computer and type I'll let you all know how it went. Thankx for listening to my rambling.  :thumb:

Steve, surgery is not a stupid thing to post about. I've had way to many for one person and I hope you do OK. Follow the Dr's orders and take every one of those pain pills he/she says to. At least they'll make you feel more like    than  :( ...well at least it helps some anyway. Love the little twin and this forum.

Well a get well gift (OK several) are on their way to you ...
And yea body mechanics man ... I am a total weakling ... but I am good at using what little strength I have to out do much much stronger guys ... LIke my welder was trying to pull these things apart ... and he tried and tried ... and couldn't ... he can yank my arms out of their sockets ... that's how strong he is ... but I put it behind by head and yanked it apart ... no problem ... once he saw that he did that to the rest ...
Cool.

I know your apprehesion about going under the knife. I have had 5 surgeries and need a 6th to remove plates in my arm, just don't want to be down for several weeks. It sounds like your surgery has to be done. Heal fast and get back in the saddle.

Here's another biker hoping all goes well for you too.  :thumb:

I don't know if you're going under general anesthesia, but I've been there several times and while I was apprehensive the first time, It's really no big deal. So, don't worry about that either, and as others have said, painkillers make everything better.

I hope it goes well. Surgery is never fun, at least in my experience but the end result is sometimes GREAT, so I wish GREAT results for you.

stevemac12073

well it's official, i go in the operating room tomorrow and 1 pm. i'm sure i'll be on here before and after. although i might not make much sense with me being on pain killers and having to use only my laft hand to type.

hope all goes well, man.  I had surgery in January to put some titanium plates in my face in order to repair a broken sinus.  I sympathize with your anxiety.

Try to remember that you're in good hands...just sit back and enjoy the anesthesia (the drip they give you just before taking you into the ER...mmmmm....

Good luck with it, in 2001 I had my right shoulder done and about four or five years before that my left. The consultant realy cheered me up by saying the mathematics of being that unlucky were like a lottery win. I know which I would rather have had but, honest, it's worth it, it was great afterwards.

QuoteThey are going to scrape away some of the bone and take out some of the crap in there.
Will they give you the crap back as a souvenir? It would be gross but cool at the same time. When I was 16 I got my braces back when they took 'em off. I later gave it away as a birthday present. Good luck, man. You'll need that 'ol shoulder back. My mom is an EMT as well. Sounds like a fun job if you can handle gore.

stevemac12073

well tell u what if i do get to keep the stuff they take out i'll give u guys first dibs, otherwise it will go on e-bay.
