so what did everyone do this winter?

here's my lists:
-upgraded to 01+ bodywork, painted by yours truly
-fork seals
-progressive springs
-katana shock
-sandblasted and painted exhaust
-fixed tach cable leak
-short stalk turn signals
-tank protector
-replaced seat and tank lock with matched pair (same key)
-89 clip-ons, new grips
-air dam

still need to:
-adjust chain
-replace brake pads
-finish off that fender once and for all
-change ignition cylinder (to match seat and tank lock above)
-sv650 or newer gs500 headlight
-lowering links (maybe)
-new battery
-replace fugly stock mirrors

What do fugly mirrors look like?  Is this  something I should worry about?  I ride around with scratched glasses...are they fugly too?

And. . .

Soon to add:

And that's about it.  But that is about enough.

Well, mostly I neglected my bike...but in the thawing out process, I:

installed 15t sprocket
mounted case savers
changed brake pads (front only--I don't think the previous owner(s) ever used the rear brakes)
sanded/painted my exhaust
new tires
brake system flush

I still need to add an accessory outlet and fabricate a mount for my Dell Axim and GPS antenna.  I may wuss out and just modify a tank bag to hold the axim/antenna in a foam casing within the map pocket.  I also want to wire my riding jacket so I can run an earpiece from the Axim to use the voice prompts from the navigation software (don't want to hit a tree trying to look at the GPS while riding).

so, Jigger, you finally fixed ALL your issues at once, eh?  Can't wait to see your "new" bike!

Took mine down to the frame, sandblasted then powerdercoated the frame, swing arm, fork tubes, and many other accessories.  And then pretty much everything you see in my sig. was done too, besides the headlight fairing and the blue paint, although I had to redo my tank.

Over the summer and next winter I plan to add buell signals and chop my rear fender for sure.  During the winter Im contemplating on boring out to 78mm pistons, porting my head, installing new cams, removing the counter balencer, and probably installing new bearings while I have the thing apart.

My son is a machinist.  We might be doing the front rotors this next winter, but I kinda like the old school look.

Front end is off of a '92 GSXR 750

D-Day, that is NUTS!   You and your son should start making that undertail exhaust for us!

I'm going to see if I can get Dgyver to make me a solo tail. . . But that fork looks great.

BTW, you and Octane have very similar avatar's and very cool bikes.
Are you and Octane, in fact, the same person?

No, we are different people.

Dgyver has the mold for the same tail section.  It is the race tail section.

The exhaust is easy to do.  :bs:

Remove all the stock body work aft of the tank.  I used a V&H header pipe, put a piece of  flexible 1 7/8" I.D. exhaust tubing from the header to a Supertrapp internal baffle muffler.  I used a couple of 2"I.D., 2" O.D. adapters to hook them together.

Then move some of the wiring harness around, relocate the master cylinder for the rear brake to infront of the battery, move the rear brake line, use aluminum to shield the exhaust, wrap the exhaust and fabricate the rear light and turnsignal mount.  I used a commercial truck tail light and some bookshelf brackets for my mounts. While you are at it, remove the rear passenger pegs.

I did everything you see with a hack saw and drill.

Maybe I'll just stick with the Wileyco side mount exhaust.  But wheels will get powder coat and the solo tail is going on, for sure.
