can anyone tell me why non-bleed pilot jets are hard to obtain?  the stealer doesn't stock them and can't get them.  bike bandit was the only place that i found them and they don't have them anymore.
anybody know what gives?
why can't bleed type jets be used?
thanks

Bleed type jets usually make the mixture too rich. The only size that may work is a size 35 bleeder type, but no one has tried that yet. Sudco makes the non-bleed type and we've been able to order them through Cycle Gear (who probably orders them either direct, or through one of the distributors, like Tucker-Rocky, Parts Unlimited, etc.)

Fett's (CRASHED) Ride-Flush Mounts, Aluizio Undertail, Aluizio Hugger, Wileyco w/flange, K&N, Sudco Jets, Custom Painted Tail & Fender, 2wheeljunkie LED Tails & Factory Clip-ons       Now I'm rolling an old school GSXR1100 w/1260cc kit built by Joe Marasco himself and two Harley 883 sportsters!

I've tried both the #37.5 and #40 bleeders and wasn't able to get either of them to stabilize.  I tried all the different air mix settings from all the way turned in to all the way turned out going by 1/4 turn incriments.  The control in my experiment was that I put the stock pilots back in right afterward, set it to three turns out and instantly it was running smooth again.

If you were to buy bleeders I suggest that you try the #35 and #32.5.  I am going to be pulling my carbs apart pretty soon here and if I get the chance will buy some and let y'all know how it goes.

Do they make them that small?

Depends on when your bike was built.  Before 2001 Non-bleed stock is (I think) 37.5, 2001 and after, bleed type and stock is 17.5

One reason why the dealer does not stock them is because most dirtbikes use the bleeder-type pilot jets, and the kits that are offered the dealer usually only have the bleeder-types.

You're right mjm.

2001 and after, bleed type and stock is 17.5

So they come that small, huh!?

GSXR's 750 I believe 88-92 used 32.5 bleed pilots. I dunno ... see the Gs is the only bike that reacts well to swapping pilots, When I discovered waay back in 1998 that the pilots cleaned up the low end ... I immediately put 1 size larger pilots in my eli 1000 ... it promptly turned into a night mare ... great starting, and great for 3 mins after, as it buit temperature it was worse and worse ... and after 15-20 mins it was un rideable under 1/4 throttle and In an eli 1000, 1/4 throttle is 60mph in 6th ... That bike was just so finicky about jetting It was un real ... over rich by 1 size and it will do the strangest thing ... pull like crazy for about 10 seconds and drop off for 2 ... under steady throttle ... better off closing throttle and opening back up ... and then the worst it would do was backfire ... a lot ...
