One day they are gonna be classic rock, how many other 20 sumthings (god i'm in that catagory) remember this great music???? College life is coming to an end where does one go from here? Yeah..I'm in the same boat as you..22 with 3 college classes left to take and then where do I go?  I was just having this conversation with a friend.  I feel too young to have to start looking for a full time job forever!  It's such a huge leap from having like 2 hours of class a day with a day off every week, where you can not go if u dont want to-Then  FULL TIME job.  Hopefully, we'll land in one of these places that apparently allows their employees to search the web all day like so many members here have!

Can you believe Pearl Jam is always on classic rock stations now? that kills me...

Just wait till your been in your new job for 5 years, buy a house, get married and turn 30!  Now college is just a blissfull memory for me...

Enjoy those beautiful sunny afternoons, they suck when your sitting in a cube looking out a window.

Congrats on the bday

Its not as bad as you think, once you adjust to it.  I'm almost 2 years into my career, and with the exception of some hungover fridays in the first few months, its been smooth sailing.

I made the jump from class two days a week and not working my last semester - yes, I enjoyed my last semester  to working 50 hour weeks.

The upside is I have alot more disposable income, no papers to write, and can actually make a contribution to society.

I write more papers now than I did in college (and they're all better than when I was in college).

You'll like the income and hate the hours.  You might think you spend a lot of time studying, and you do.  But wait till you try to add up the hours you spent on your first successful project.  When you go salary - don't go back and figure out your hourly wage....

Even though it was incredibly tough because I was working full time and had kids, I enjoyed my time in school.  It's worth all the effort when you are into a job for a while and you realize you know what the heck you are talking about and people begin asking you to talk about what you know.

Congratulations, you deserve it.  Tip one for me.

I've been out for over five years... hit the big 3-0.  And I don't miss college one bit.  When most people think of college they think of the good times.  When that yerning for college comes back, just remember ridiculous hours of studying, stress of finals, being pennyless, paying out the wazoo for books, etc.

Now the best part of being a 8:00 to 5:00er is being able to walk out the door and forget about the place. (even though I like my job)  My free time is acctaully MINE.  No studying over weekends and holidays, no worrying about how I'm paying for next semester.

Oh ya, if you thought the past few years of school went by fast, you ain't seen nothin yet.  You'll start a new job and be there 9 months before you even relize it.  You'll look back and think man thats a year of college, and I feel like I just got here.

Embrace your future, its all in your hands now, now all you have to worry about is how your going to support yourself and not end up sleeping in a cardboard box for the rest of your life.  ;)    No pressure.  :?

Making money rocks and is 10 times better than being in school.

But hitting 30?  I didn't mind at the time (5 months ago).  But it is SOOOO hard to stay in shape now.  All of the sudden, it hits you.  You start falling apart!

I'm 23 too, but have been out for 2 years already...while it's nice to have the cheddar, there's nothing like the freedom of being in college and not having a care in the world. Now I'm thinking about doing grad school while working full-time....man it's like the worst of both worlds

Or you could do it like I am. I started college four years ago, and right now I am looking at another three before I finish my undergraduate degree. This is my second semester of co-op (internship during school for credit) and I am hoping to take another year to work in Japan, but I haven't gotten that figured out yet. At least tuition is only $300 for the semesters that I am working.

In the end, I will spend 4.5-5 years for an engineering degree. It will just take me 7 years to finish it

I'm also 23 (turning 24 this year)...graduated last year.

I miss riding to school in the afternoon. .. maybe that's why I take LONG lunch breaks at work to ride now.

Enjoy being young and not knowing what the hell you want to do.
Your music will be "classic" and "kitsche retro" before you know it.
Happy 23rd dude!

Well I started college at the ripe old age of 17. Figure ill be done by the time im 21, with an associates and a bachelors in General Business, and im not sure what im gonna do after that. I may end up in an office job (god no) but id rather be out working with my hands, I HATE sitting all day and my friends give me crap for it. As of right now, i work full time, I have my own office (if you wanna call it that) and go to school at night. Hopefully I can find a better job when summer comes around, I wouldnt mind being a diesel mechanic or somethign along those lines, I HATE being indoors. Anyways, yea, fun stuff. Course im only 19 now...

ah yes... tunes that I blasted on my cassette tape walkman in grade-school are just now beginning to creep into the 'classic rock' formats on the radio.  Anybody up for some Aerosmith, AC/DC, Van Halen, or Poison?

aaaah, lets hear it for the aging process!!!! BOOYAH!

p.s.

a quarterlife crisis is only a crisis if you make it one.  Most college kids who just fell off the turnip truck need little more than an attitude adjustment to feel contented with their lives IMO.

I did three years of grad school after college and really grad school was the time of my life.  But being out is better.  I've been done for five years now  :o  and working on my career is a blast.

My taste in music has changed.  Now twenty somethings listen to the music I liked in college because it is "retro".  I think they have their heads in their ass.  I went from listening to Dave, the Samples, Big Head Todd, Blues Traveler, et al., Now I like Bright Eyes, Damian Rice, Jay-Z,  Dashboard and all that other Emo crap.

I loved college and grad school and I wouldn't go back if you paid me!!!
