what earbuds do you use under the helmet?...I'm sick and tired of using my 10 bucks panasonic ones...

i know that Shure E3C's are the best...but EXPENSIVE!!!!!!

what do you guys use?

I've tried several different types, either they are an uncomfortable fit, or don't block wind noise. The best I found for a fairly reasonable price is the sony earbuds that go directly in your ear. I don't remember the model number but I got them at Best Buy for about 35 dollars.

You need to get a set of "The Plug" by Koss, ~$20 go into the ear canal  with foam inserts and work great at work to keep out annoying cubicle tittering :guns: .  On webbikeworld.com it shows how someone took a pair of disposable earplugs with the strings, removed the strings and inserted the tubes into them for use on a motorcycle.  Very nice audio response and well made.

I find them very comfortable, it takes a little getting used to, but once you get them in, they STAY!  I have not had the opportunity to try them riding yet, but plan to real soon (can't find the right type of ear plugs to put them in yet... lazy I guess).  I will keep you updated, but a real good purchase if you want inexpensive noise cancelling headphones IMHO.  I have had mine for about 2 years and had to switch out 1 of the original foam inserts.

Eh, maybe my ears are stubbon.. I haven't found anything that's comfortable for any period of time. I want something that is convenient... ie-if I take off my helmet to run inside somewhere I don't have to spend 10 minutes trying to get my plugs back in. I have those Koss buds, and they are comfy enough, but they're hard to get to stay in place when putting on/removing my helmet... More of a hassle than it's worth usually.

i've used this (black one)...

i have tried the koss plug... didn't work.  i tried the plug; i tried it with a different set of foam; i tried using modifying the foam inserts... none of it worked to any level of satisfaction... maybe it's just my ears though...

I had the koss ones they worked really good till they died.  then,  I started using my snowboarding ones, that have a little rubber thing that goes over my ears.

Does anyone besides me like to hear just the music of the bike? Love the little GS and this forum.

I have ridden 1000 mile + days either way,  as long as the riding is good and the pipe sounds sweet it dosn't matter

Another thing we agree on...

I use the sony earbuds from Best buy also.  I enjoy the bike noise around town and such but I get really bored (a little ADD for me) on long trips and I find the audio books are great.  even if i have already heard it before.

I just need the distraction.  you know.  yeah

i am pretty sure there have been studies concerning the harmful effects of excessive wind noise.  so aside from the music, it's just a good idea to have some sort of ear plug if you are doing long-stretch highway riding.

helmet speakers are a viable option and arent too expensive

Yeah i agree, i don't want the distraction of music when my i need to mentally process so much. No tunes and no skulls and crossbones on my person or bike when i ride.

I can understand using the ear-plugs to reduce wind noise, especially if you ride at speeds above, say, 45-50 or so. But using speakers for music just defeats part of the purpose of riding to me (operative term). I love hearing the bike and the wind and the birds and the frogs, yadda yoda blabba. I have a lot of hearing loss in the upper range and I'll bet riding all those years with no ear-plugs contributed it's share. Steppenwolf is bike music. Love the Baby GS and this forum.

check out the shure e2c, e3c or e5c depending on your budget.  shure is a company that has it's roots in hearing aids but makes excellent ear-bud style headphones.  if you do any research, you will find these are top notch in sound quality, comfort and isolation (which is not necessarily a good thing on a motorcycle).   they also come with several different "buds" so you can choose which ones are most comfortable for you.
