ok, i was away for a month and very happy to return just in time for riding season.. few questions before i officially start my season

- i got my bike to run, seems like there's no problem. after a few minutes of warming and running the engine, i noticed black marks on the fence exactly where the exhaust is pointing. is this a sign the bike is burning oil? or that the jets are clogged?

- back brake squeaks... any solutions??

- front brake works but the brake light does not work if the front brake is in use. i know it's just probably the fuse, but i cant find my manual. where is the fuse box? or is there any other problem causing it?

any help would be appreciated. temperature is mild but getting warmer and i would like to start my season as soon as possible.

If the back brake has good pads on it then get some 1207b from the suzuki dealer.  I beleive it is a marine sealant so your motorcycle dealer proabably wont carry it.  Or go to an auto parts store and get some brake pad grease.  Take out your brake pads and apply a thin coat of either to the Back side of the pad and reinstall.  Then let the 1207b dry over night and no more squeaks.  I think the grease doesnt need to sit or anything but read it first to make sure.  but if the pads are worn out then get some new ones.  And if they squeak then put some 1207b or brake pad grease on.  Hope this helps.  I dont know enough about the exhaust or the fuses without looking it up, but good luck.

thanks... any other input?

Black is just soot - may mean a rich engine, may mean nothing.  I bet nothing.

There is no fuse on the brake lights - the bike has only one fuse.  If the brake lights come on when you use the back brake its not bulbs - follow the wiring from the brake to the bad connection/broken wire.  If it does not work when you press the back brake either - it could be bulbs or the connector to the bulbs.  Start at the brake light and work forward to the bad connector.

squeaking should go away after some riding...make sure all surfaces are clean.

if it's the bulb it should be obvious....ther are two bulbs and what's the odd of both blowing.... :dunno:

also check the front brake switch....

Here is the wiring diagram for the brake light ckt. It's very simple.
