Hi, everybody,

Does anybody live in the California, bay area, and know any good mechanics to do a general inspection with? I live in Santa Clara.

There are a whole bunch of them here, but I just wanted to ask around whether there are any favorites.

thanks in advance

I like the guys at SC Cycle Accessories on El Camino but I don't know if they have a service shop.  I'm sure they'd be able to recommend a good place.

Check out the Bay area thread in the meet and greet forum  :thumb:

My brother was a huge spears enterprises fan when we were there ... I wasn't into much wrenching then    ... Just kidding ... but he did go there 1-2 times and liked it. I went once, but that was cos lindemann was right next door.
Cool.

Define general inspection. If you just need a licenced mechanic to look at it, I can at no charge (I don't work for a shop anymore, no money in it). If in Sunnyvale, I suggest Hare Racing. I would call Bike World to see what they're charging these days. Spears is in Campbell. I hear nothing but good things about Hayward Suzuki on BayAreaRidersForum.com. Redwood City has a great shop (call first again), too. Check the phone book for numbers and addresses.

And Welcome to GStwin!

There is this great place I like to go over the bridge and then down the 580.  Then you get off the free way and go to my house.  Once you get here, let me know whether it hauled ass.  I'll look at your bike and give you the thumbs up.  Then you go back home. :thumb:

Also, I would take Scratch up on his offer.
I came here to kick @$$ or chew bubblegum...and it looks like I'm all out of bubblegum.

Thanks a lot everybody for replies and warm welcome.

By general inspection I meant check brakes, clutch, engine, carburetors, suspension... and so forth to see what kind of maintenance the bike will be needing and when will it be needing it.
Not a really detailed look, just to see if something stands out as really needing some work.

Depending on where you're located, I can look at the bike. pm'ed ya.
