Checking oil, do you turn the dipstick down??

hey guys, i was just checking my oil today and kinda confused about it, are you suspose to turn it down or just push it down as far as it will go without turning it in the threads. Thanks guys

I think there was a discussion a while back that the bike actually wasn't supposed to be on the centerstand, as the centerstand tips the bike forward slightly and does affect the oil reading.  I seem to remember some comparison photos of the oil level that someone (Kerry?) took that did show a difference between on and off centerstand.

Maybe I'm crazy.  

But yeah, definately don't screw in the dipstick, just insert it until the threads touch, then pull out & check.

trust me, it needs to be on the centerstand.
