He was saying that the sliders would mount to the motor guard so know cutting of the fairing would be necesary, but im unsure of the looks of a motor guard on an 04 with the fairing, it looks good on naked version but a fairing might make it look strange

The Buddha

Look Strange ... heck I'd say downright ugly ... Sorry guys ... but the honest truth is ... anyhting you put on it is going to look hideous ... of course rashed or broken plastic and torn up cases is worse ... so trade off ???
Cool.

Does that mean you made some?  And, do they look strange on '89-2002, or do they only look strange on F models?

On the 04 ... I didn't make them yet, but they will not help the looks any I am sure ... The previous lot I made looked OK on the 89-02 ... But I dont anticipate that with 04's ... the fact that it was pipe and didn't ahve sharp points or edges and corners ... helped last time, now ... Its going to be cut from flat bar and have a insert in it etc ... OK the sliders will cover that ... but if no sliders ... Its going to not be pretty ... The 04+ is very pretty ...
Cool.

Bump. I know someone looking to get case savers for his GS. Let me double check.

Keloran, it is obvious from your avatar that you're not really from Canada.

Count me in I need some sliders, by the way how hard are these things going to be to install?

I have an 04 GS500F..I think I read that they would be ugly (or even not available?), but maybe new ones would look better?  Or at least even fit?  Please inform if the 04 would be a 2 or 3 point and yeah I wont ask to see photos yet  ;o)

I really just want the sliders, but think the cage is needed first...correct?

The Buddha

My design is that 3 point or 2 point will take sliders, and install will be easy ... no need to support the motor, you will have to take off fairing to fit the front 2 ...  but once they are on you can fit the fairing back and fit the third and fit sliders ... I am so sorry I can show it any other way, pics mean 1 has to be made and the guys need 25 or so to make it feasible. I will do a cardboard one if possible before I start so y'all know what it will look like. I am just getting flanges started ... so this is the next large project. I am waiting to catch the late entries so no one that got wileyco is left wihtout flange. Weird dancing with ebay ...  :x

I'm willing to be patient, Srianth, while you get your situation worked out.

But this topic won't wait--this thing was on page 5 before Keloran bumped it.  See my earlier post in this thread about how the keychains got a sticky, but this one didn't?  I was sorta half-joking then.  Now I'm serious.  STICKY!  TOPIC!  NOW!

 It's the "South Park me"! Of course I'm from Canada. Frost can vouch for me ;) Well the avatar is a little inaccurate now. In November I chopped off my hair and put red streaks in.

I already have a set of the case savers. I love them.  :thumb:

Larry

I would like a 3 point engine guard set for a 2000 GS500E.

I got a set of the first batch of guards that srinath made and they look great.  I can't (thankfully) vouch for how they hold up in a wreck, but they look good and fit well.   :thumb:

Pics?

I trust that they will be great, Srianth has a rep.  However, maybe more people would be interested if a pic went up showing how well the first batch turned out (with the assurance that the next batch will be better).  I just want to reach that minimum batch size so Srianth can get cracking.

Srinath, I like the three point case guard on Cal's bike.

If you made those, I'd be down like Charlie Brown.  Especially if they came with a slider on there.

Is that near what you are planning?

Not exactly. These will have to be flat bar bend and drilled. That round section will not squeeze between the fairing and motor. The rest of the concept is similar. The thing will be in 2 pieces on each side. The front to motor mounts will have one running up and down between them. I'll have the third bolt to the middle of that and the slider is going on that same spot where they bolt together. Like I said ugly ... but fairing limits the use of tubing, flat bar isn't nice to look at, sliders are going to stick out and look like crap (like they dont on other bikes) but the goal is protection really. If we get a good projection with the bar, the sliders can be lower profile and hence be less ugly. Maybe I'll try to match it to the ones on the market so those CF tip things they have will fit on it. But no promises. You can always slap carbon tape on them. Heck carbon tape the whole thing. Oh ... Yea I can powdercoat them in silver to match the motor or flat black to match the frame ... but then again ... its powdercoating ... not invisibility paint ... so dont expect any miracles in the looks department. Lemme get the flanges made, then we do this.
Cool.
