davipu

Hyosung Comet GT250 similar to GS500,
and Hyosung GT650 similar to SV650.

im liking the usd forks and the wheels.  Looks sharp

they are available in the US under another name... alpha motorsports.  they had a web page once upon a time which i can't seem to find again.  there is a fairly active yahoo group for the 250 and 650 models.

before i picked up my 01+ bodywork for my 90 gs, i was trying to find the hyosung parts, but it proved to be rather difficult tracking them down.

they had an article about hyosung a while ago in one of my bike mags. i can't find it right now, but they looked to be a pretty cool company. it mentioned somthing in the article about hyosung making more types of engines in the future. i think they look wicked, plus you could tell everybody you own a bike they've never heard of, so thats cool.

here is their site http://www.alpha-sports.com/    (to actually see the alphasports bikes click on the very small, purple alphasports logo near the top of the page. not the best web site ever.)

by the time i have enough $ saved to actually get a new new bike i hope they have the 650 for sale in america. or possibly some kind of inline 4. like a gsxr750 copy. i would like to see their take on that.

If you're interested in clicking around the vehciles they make you may be interested in looking at the LT160.  It says "Suzuki" on the seat...perhaps they copied a little too much on that model.

Yeah, pretty cool having a bike nobody ever heard of until you need parts and the guy at the parts counter has no idea WTF you're talking about when you say "Hyosung Comet".

They actually are a decent looking bike though, the USD forks are a nice touch. There's a dealer in Danville near VIR that stocks them. I wouldn't buy one of those things unless it was the friggin' deal of the century though. At least not til they have a track record.

Damn, the GT250 naked weighs 415lbs dry. That is a ton for a 250. Hell, the Ninja 250 only weighs 304lbs dry, and my GS weighs around 380. That thing is just plain heavy.

My local suzuki dealership had some of the Alpha bikes in their showroom last year. Sat on the little 250, like a baby GS. It was a nice bike, didn't seem to heavy, and looked of very good quality and construction. I was impressed with it. Service guy (250lbs) got it up 90mph on the road by the shop.

hyosung used to make parts for suzuki. but because of export laws they couldn't make the whole suzuki bike. so they started making their own bikes. the review i read of the comet 650 said that yes it was heavier (non aluminum parts or somthing) and made a few less HP. but it came with nicer suspension than a sv650. i dunno, i like them, i'll try to dig up that article and scan it.
