Funny noise.... do you know what it is?

Whenever the bike is in idle I can hear a funny sorta grinding/scraping noise coming from the carb. area. It is only if it is in idle or if I am going less than 9mph. It sounds like something is going round and round and rubbing against something else because it is a conisistent time pattern- about once a second. It is not loud, it's actually kinda quite but I can hear it. Do you guys have any clue what this is?

scratch

Maybe the camchain going by the camchain tensioner, which is mounted just abaft (I've always wanted to use that word) of the cylinders, between the carbs.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

octane

Disconnect the tach cable from the motor and see if your sound goes away.

If that's the only noise you hear you're in pretty good shape. These engines are known to be noisy.
