Ok Gang

I have a 1992 Suzuki GS500E with 9500 Miles on it

I bought the sucker with 6200 Miles on it for $500  :P  :thumb:

Anyballs, aside from the cosmetic revival of this bike, I want to beef it up.  I was thinking of actually dropping a larger engine into it but I have no idea what would fit in it.  Besides, the engine is so young, why bother if I can modd it.

I like the way the bike sounds as of now, It kind of purr's.  But I guess i'd like to pull some more horsepower out of this bad boy.

What are some engine mod's y'all have done to your bikes?  I'd really like to know.

On a side note.  The gas tank vibrates at a certain RPM.  Soon I plan on re-doing the fuel system from the cap down to the petcock, as that's the only real problem the bike is facing right now (aside from the aforementioned cosmetics)

I will take some pics tomarrow morning so ya'll can get an idea of what i'm working with cosmeticly.

I also heard that GS's of my year are notorious for carb problems due to god knows what and also an undersized petcock ( :dunno:  )

Help me pimp my ride.  I want this bad boy to look f%$king STELLAR.

Some mods that I have done:
ignition advancer
full exhaust
cams
high compression oversized pistons
larger carbs
milled head
ported head
k&n air filter

other's have done:
gsxr 4-valve head (I am building one now)
turbo
nitrous

I am working on a bored & stroked motor.

How much money ya got?

Well jesus man.  I dunno how much I wanna spend really.

I think I wanna start by gettin a new oversized gas tank.  I wanna be able to go like 200 miles a tank ^_^

..... Yah I kno.

Still I don't really know where to stary.  Ignition advance?

Bob B modifies the stock rotor. Last I heard he was having problems with his mill so I am not sure if he is operational yet.

I am getting a new gas cap to start out.  I honestly want to put an oversized tank on this thing so I can get some more distance.  Would a pipe increase my power?  A whole new exhaust system?

dgyver

A higher flowing exhaust along with a high flow air filter and a proper rejet will increase hp but it will decreasse gas mileage. Something will be sacrificed. The 01+ tanks are larger but the 89-00 seat and plastic do not match up to it.

I feel your pain  .  I sometimes ride with an extra 2 gallons of fuel in a gas tank in the seat bag.

See the thread http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15476 for information on putting the bigger gas tank on the GS (along with the newer seat and side plastics).

Rejetting will generally decrease the range of the motorcycle a few percent (unless you just rejet to stock).  I'm guessing that just going to a slightly bigger pilot would increase warm-up time, but would not affect mpg when you're cruising at 60mph much.
You cannot escape our master plan!

I think you mean decreased warm up time.

I have rejetted to 40 pilot only and have not seen a measurable decrease in mileage like you say. My commute puts me immediately in stop and go traffic and I'm very pleased with the cold performance of the bike now.

When you get that bigger tank, let me know. I need a new(regular sized) tank. I'm sure we can work something out.
