i just realized that i may be the heaviest gs500 rider around, i was lookign at a bunch of pics of forum members, and i was like "crap these guys are skinny, maybe that is why my bike doesn't seem as fast?"

so i'm taking up jogging, and no more random junk food. i'm not like real fat, but i'm a pretty big guy.

anybody out weigh me? or know any funny big guy on small bike jokes?

i weigh about 250 pounds  :o

need to start jogging.
The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

There are members much bigger than you.  But I'm not naming names.

Don't worry.

Jogging melts fat away.  Do 9 miles a week and lift weights and play basketball.   You'll be able to kick the shaZam! out of most people.

Don't eat anything with sugar or flour in it.  Which means no candy, icecream, cake, bread, or fruit.  You can eat all the meat and veggies you want.

95+% of the calories you burn in a day are burned just living.  Exercising doesn't REALLY burn that much.  You'd have to run like 3.5 hours a day to burn the 3500 calories in a pound of fat.  Of course, exercise IS good for you but not necessarily to lose weight.

I weigh 215, but I carry it on a 5'6" frame...so proportionately I may be bigger than you. Say anything you want, my wife still thinks I'm sexy!  :nana: There's a big Indian guy running around here with a box full of GS parts too...

Jake D

Okay.  I'm 6'2" about 230-235.  I've seen one guy that was 270 lbs and about 5'10" or so.  There is a 6'6" guy, 'bout 220 or so.

So there are lots of big guys riding the GS.  I'll put pics up when my bike it done so you can have visual confrimation of another clydesdale on the baby GS.

weight reduction (my weight) will make my bike faster. and jogging is pretty cheap, so i'm gonna get on it.

i'm about 5 feet 10 inches. i mostly have a wide frame, as in big shoulders and ribs ect. i look funny cruising about on my little gs.

right now my bike is garaged while i patch up the junky tank that came with it. seems like the best place to keep it lately with all the rain mid ohio has gotten lately, and with all the people dumping and wrecking their bikes.

glad to hear i'm not the only massive dude on a gs!

i'll try to post a few pics of me and my gs somtime soon.

Bunch of feather weights

None here can Match my greatness of 5'11" (hair shy 6') Broad shouldered 280lbs of bigness, but so many say i dont look it. i must say my tire has added a few more inches of tred but need the XXL to fit across my shoulders too. 2 here have seen me in person, Tony Diaz in Miami, and Altrueism in mirimar.

My little GS runs me just fine. i do need to get back on the diet though, belly makes it harder to lean over the tank and more weight making me slower in corners. guess some Dirt riding would help that as i hate joging, constant standing and squating, throwing the bike around, jumps, and slides, not to mention getting into 2 wheel mud fights.

Im 6'2" and just around 210 (getting lower, woohoo for exercise!). I was about 220 maybe a tad more when I bought the GS. EXCELLENT bike, got my ass around everywhere I wanted to go, dont worry about it :).

hey Blueknyt. what kind or dirt riding do you do, like trials, mountain, or somthing else?

i've been thinking about getting a little dirt bike to play around on sharpen my skills with.

just curious to what you ride and where.

i was surprised with the gs when i first got it. i'm hooked, love the gs. i'm still working on making mine into a tiny little old school street rod style street fighter. all in good time.

I'm 5'10" and just before Halloween I weighed 265 pounds.  Now I'm just a shade under 230, and I look and feel much better.  Still not any taller though.

If you're not active already, trying to start jogging will kick your ass, and you'll quit.  Don't ask how I know.  I learned that in 2001.

Start walking, and eating lots of salad.  I walk 3.5 miles four times a week, do the stairmaster and weight lifting at the gym an hour a day 5 days a week, and I eat salad like a crackhead bunnyrabbit.

My big weakness is chicken wings.  You know, hot wings, buffalo wings.  So I go to Winghouse (local version of Hooters, though Hooters is originally from here too) and I get the Winghouse Chicken Salad.  It's a huge bowl of salad topped with grilled chicken.  Then I nicely ask the waitress if I can get the chicken tossed in wing sauce.  Then I go beserk:  I eat this giant bowl of salad and feel full, but I get my wing-flavor fix without eating not-so-healthy fried chicken wings.

You can't do this as a short term solution.  The only reason I've been able to lose it and keep it off is by making a commitment not to 'diet', but to change my lifestyle.  Something I do to keep my sanity and stay committed is to 'cheat' one day a week.  Last Thursday I had a burger and fries for lunch at Checkers.  I almost didn't enjoy it, because it was greasy and salty.  Almost.

I feel great, I look better, and I need to shop for new clothes because mine are now too big.  You can do it. :thumb:

Yeh, you'd be surprised how much quicker the little Baby is when you drop a few pounds. After this last bout with my liver I had gotten down to about 120...wow, the little twin feels like it could do 60 in just a couple seconds. Of course I don't want to stay this light but it definitely was noticable in the throttle response. In fact, other than the lack of torque, the Baby G feels a lot like some of my old Triumphs as far as horsepower. Probably about as fast too...and the old 650 TR6 wasn't considered to be a slouch in it's day. I love my little White Owl, New Guinea, and this forum.

screw jogging.  if you have a pool nearby, get a membership... an hour of lap swimming three times a week will do you much more good than jogging.

Find a good martial arts school, go three times a week...in 6 months you'll lose a "ton" of weight and be able to get yer ass kicked at the drop of a hat. Love the Baby G, Zambia, and this forum.

i am 5'7" and about 180lbs, hoping to get down to about 165.  i used to be 225.  then one winter i lost 45lbs and put a k&n pod on my bike.  in the spring i thought, damn that k&n pod is amazing... my bike feels so much faster.  then i remembered i lost 45lbs and that was probably what did it.  i've been eating better, bicycling and lifting weights.

Hey hey hey...little did you all know that there is a nutritionist on the GStwin board...it's me!  well, in 3 more classes it will be official, but  I'm close enough to help anyone out who wants it.  Anyone can feel free to pm me with questions or anything and we can do a real nutritional assessment and create a plan that is for you.  I would love to help and make my 4 years of college mean something! Let me know if I can help any one of you!  :)
